I've completed my first novel, and am extremely pleased with it. But I've been unable to get a literary agent to even read a sample chapter! It's funny, quirky, "chick-lit", as they call it, but how do I get my foot in the door to a publisher?

We are going to have to write a pursuasive essay soon and we have to read a book that we can incorporate in it ... What should I read?

1. The BEll Jar By: Sylvia Plath
2. In Cold Blood by Truman Capote
3. Me talk pretty one day by David Sedadris

I would appreciate a line or two about what the book is about .. For example if the book is about cloning - I can write a pursuasive essay about cloning... If I write about "students should wear uniforms" - it should somehow mention that... I AM NOT WRITTING AN ESSAY ON THE BOOK - I AM WRITTING ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE BUT I HAVE TO INCORPORATE THE BOOK SOMEHOW....

I was told by my english teacher that there are six themes in this tale. He read them off really fast, and i don't remember what they are. I have read the tale, but i cant figure out what the themes are. If anyone can help that would be great.
