She says that he is the kind of man who will do a job that nobody else will do, and do it well. He is the same strong person at home and on the street...everywhere he goes.
As for why he gave up shooting, she explained that he felt that he had an unfair advantage over the animals and it didn't feel right any more.
whan atticus left the court room, the blacks on the balcony stood up in respect for him.
