How many books do you read a year?
I go through phases. I´ll read for about 2-3 hours everyday for months, one book after another, and then suddenly I stop reading completely for a long time and turn to surf on the internet or watch TV instead.

OK, I'm jumping on this bandwagon and looking for some critique on my photos. I've told some of you want I think of yours, now let me know what you think of mine. :)

How do they make you feel? Do you like each of them? What do they lack? How could I have taken each of them better?

I want the TRUTH! And nothing more.

Thanks!

I have been researching for a very long time, and am having the greatest difficulty with a G grandfathers name. The majority of my family are English, but when it comes to the Scottish its a nightmare.
I have my G Grandfather appearing in the 1881 English Census, and 1891, but as for finding him in the Scottish Census for earlier years is a nightmare, (both G grandparents were born in Perth Scotland apparently) and cannot find him or G Grandmother on 1901 England Census, not any of his children, bar my Grandad. Also when my Grandad and Granny had children the name changed from Mc to Mac.

I know that the many children the G Grandparents had were talked about as if they lived in England, and not so far away from my Grandad, but no trace.

The issue is also more strange as all Grandparents, historically worked for the Crown in Windsor in Windsor Great Park. I would have thought documentation would have been paramount there.

Any help would be appreciated.

I wrote this love ode to some poet friends and it won me poet of the year in San Francisco. If you can get through it all Bravo! And don't tell me this isn't a poem you don't win poetry awards for writing prose. I am using a French poetic form created by Oulipo school called cento which means you take lines already written by others and combine them into a work of your own and it is slam poetry as well, I won for slamming it.

Now for the points answer me these questions three.

1st question is what is my theme, aside from love.

2nd Whoever names the most song titles with artist name wins and a bonus applause if you can tell me how my poem was organized. If you get them all I may consider sending you actual prize money. (Hint make at least two pop culture references per stanza.)

It is far too long for this site (though not as long as Song of Myself. I tried people I tried) so follow the link above and thanks for reading!

Why is it that when you get success in life or you are getting the chance to make something big in life, there are people who just can't see you rising or achieving so much success. They could be ready to go for black magic to dump the person concerned. Why can't it just be that everyone smiles at your success instead of finding opportunities to backbite you...Why!!!

How did the Industrial Revolution and the New Imperialism impact Western Europe socially, economically, and politically?

I learned that Hitler had beliefs rooted from the Theosophist's stand on the superiority of the "Aryan" race. This stand also argues that the Semites (where the Jews belong) were actually "degenerated" and "materialistic" race which was an offshoot of the Aryans... (I'm not an Aryan, nor a Semite [by virtue of the Theosophist's explanations]. I'm just a little interested, 'cause I'm a history teacher...)

There is some kind of guilty pleasure in pulling books such as Sweet Valley High and The Babysitter's Club off my shelf to read once again. I am thinking I am the only one still enjoying books like this even though I have clearly outgrown them. So whats your guilty pleasure?

I plan on taking a series of night shots of well lit streets. I have a tripod, a vintage Minolta SRT101 camera, 10 rolls of ASA 400 film, a f1.7 lens and a release cable. What I'm asking is, what shutter speed(s) would you recommend for taking still images of lit streets with absolutely no movement present (i.e. no light trails from cars or people).

To narrow things down a little, I'd like really clear shots with minimal noise and really deep blacks to contrast the street lights.

Asking alot I know but please try and help, thanks.
