We possess maxims which are deeply embedded in our consciousness and they are powerful. If we pay attention spontaneously to our internal meanings or our internal voice, we can reach intuitively morals that make sense of our life. So life without listening to our own maxims (morals) leads human beings to be blind-minded.

It is just doing what we feel like doing.
The immoral person is entirely driver by fear of punishment and by hope of reward. I mean feel in the broadest sense. Feelings of fear of: loss of respect; loss of relationships; going to jail; etc. The reward also in the broadest sense of feelings including the good feelings of self esteem, ego, pride, etc.
