Why did all of the pre-1918 attacks on the Western Front fail? I'm talking about the battles like Loos, Neuve Chapelle, Verdun and the Somme.

This is another question from a pre-existing question I have asked. They say you can't take a random photograph and use it as a template in a paint program which I don't think is right. The person may own the picture and it's copyright but if the end product of said change only resembles the pre-existing picture in shape and nothing else, how can they have copyright over a shape? All of an artist work derives from something. May watch a show and get an idea that derived from it. Therefore since your new idea is based on it only in the resulting context that it inspired you, does that mean you can't then use that idea. An exact cloning of the work in question I agree is wrong and deserves protective but if you change it so much that it doesn't resemble the work outside of the similarity of shapes and pose then what? Can someone thereby copyright shape and pose? Can I thereby copyright a shade of love that no one can use? Oh wells. Thanks for looking.

What are similarities between Robespierre and Napoleon? I think it's quite interesting, since one's downfall lead to another rising to power. At first both succeeded in helping France; however, they were both consumed by power and soon claimed to become emperors and even God like figures. What do you think?

I have a huge exam tomorrow. How can I give it my all? How can I be confident when taking an exam? Should I stay up all night studying things that I haven't studied or get some rest?

Or whatever else you want to do with it. I don't care, really.

Acheron

The river slows and stagnates.
Days pass as months, not hours.
My heart beats calm and sedate,
As this sweet water sours.
Fickle time was never kind to me;
Never enough and now too much...
I believed I knew what was lonely,
Yet now I learn I knew not such.
Years will pass before the tide turns,
Carrying me back to your arms.
Time cares not about my concerns;
It worries not who it harms...
This emptiness is only filled by you,
Yet how long and much will do?

When I was finished I realized the poem had 6: 4 line stanzas, made up of six syllables each. Wondering if there is a name for this style I may have subliminally used. I have been reading a bit of W.H. Auden

Here is the poem I wrote if anyone cares to read and or comment.
It's called Tracks ~

I wish to bear my soul
In some gratuitous way
Like grafiti on roll
Over a country road

The inner city angst
I've tried hard to escape
Before me now displayed
And I just have to wait

When impulse to be heard
Is all that it would take
But I find all my words
Unbearable to break

With ink as well as paint
On paper or the sides
Of box-cars passing by
It matters not the length

Though try to circumvent
I'll find out soon enough
That patience will prevail
Before my final thoughts

So speak of wanton days
As loud as eyes can see
My time will come alas
And I wil cross these tracks!

I believe

I believe in right and wrong
No, it is not a joke
With paths you choose , It is all up to you
That takes you where you need to go

I believe in trust
And that faith is involved
They can let you down
Though you just need to remain strong

I believe in wisdom
That you always lend an ear
Listen to what people say
And that you may learn along the way

I believe in miracles
That god looks down on us
He see our troubles and our needs
And help us out at the time he sees

I believe in wonders
Though you say there not real
They are things that are made up
And tell me what amazes me

I believe in honor
That you must show respect
To elderly and modest
And that is the way to step

I believe in artist
That have creative minds so
People need to create ant sometimes
To help this boring life move along

I believe in me
Which is honest and true
The reason why I expect myself
To do the things I love to

Please tell what you think

Hello. I am a teenager living in Chicago and I am looking for a legitimate acting agency. Also, I'm not even quite sure where to go from there. Do I call the Agency and make an appointment? Will I need a headshot? What should I look for on the contract? How much of a percentage does the agency ask for? Also, do I have to go on whatever auditions they tell me about? Sorry about all the questions, but this is all very new to me.

Many thanks.

See http://www.flickr.com/photos/samfeinstein/ but this question is only about the first two images. As long as I don't add anything, they should be side-by-side for your comparison. Of course, you can click on either one to enlarge it for a better look.

Yes, they are dark, but that's part of my vision here. It was about half an hour after sunset and there was still a bit of a glow on the white sycamore trees. At first, I waited for any passing cars to go by, but then I decided to capture one just to see how it would come out.

What's your opinion? Do you like it better with or without the car lights? Maybe you don't like it at all and you can say so.

This is another one of those times when I was glad I had a camera in my pocket, but I wish I had the D200 and a tripod with instead... I'll have to try this another night, unless the peanut gallery tells me not to bother.

Thanks.

A Few Trillion Diamonds

Enter into my glory, saith the Lord
Sometimes the day is so beautiful
Someone could die
The sunlight reflects off the water
Like a few trillion diamonds
The sparkling sea of glass

The earth is mine, saith the Lord
As blue sky and white clouds
Stretch out as far as the eye can see
Some of those clouds
Must be from heaven

My soul longs to be a part of that creation
That God willed, planned from the first
How beautiful the songs of the earth
When creature and creation
Sing the praises of the Lord

My heart beats in sadness
Longing to put off corruption
And longing to sing with the sons of God
Surely the Lord call us
I pray that we listen

Im in high school at the moment and im really looking into going to Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, CA. From what i read its one of the best photography schools around. Does anyone know about the cost? Quality? Size? ect. I would really love to become a fashion photographer. I know this road has limited opportunities so i would not mind becoming a portrait or wedding photographer. I am not the industrial photographer type. I like people. Also, do i need a portfolio. Im building mine right now as a Sophomore in high school. This is my website. Please comment on my work. Could i get in with the quality of my shots?

Thanks.

"Despair"

"The cry went out
Reply was clear
Help was needed
No one was there
Alone and suffering
Confusion everywhere
Direction turning
Internal despair.

Disappointment seeded
Falling to tears
Distance growing
No one to see
Need and wanting
Stay where they be
Direction turning
Internal misery.

Silent conversations
Voices everywhere
Hurt emerging
No one to hear
Doubt and questions
Senseless care
Direction turning
Internal despair."

Warning – this is a copy write piece.
