Read many contemporary books first. See how they are written, study style, character development and plot. And then make a start on writing your own book.
You don't need to start at the beginning, by the way. Just write your thoughts down. You can assemble them in book form later.
You will need to revise many times over before producing a saleable manuscript. But it can be done.
Good luck!

With a concept. From there, you build that concept into a plot with a beginning, then a conflict, then attempts to resolve it, then a resolution, then an end. You write an outline. You work on story analysis and character studies. You do any and all necessary research. Then, and only then, do you start your book with a sentence that is memorable and draws people into your work. Read the book The First Five Pages. It will explain a lot. You might also read a novel called The Novelist by Angela Hunt. It is the story of a famous novelist teaching a class in college. During the story, she goes through all the steps she uses to write a book and actually writes a novel for the class. It is a very good story and a terrific tutorial.

Keep in mind the fact that you want to write a story. trying to sit and think about what you can write is not going to help you but if you've got the idea in your mind, something will click at some time or other and you'll find hey i could write about this. also,u've got to know what genre you write:fiction,romance,thriller...To make up your mind, read all types of books,do not restrict yourself to only one type. While reading books at times we do not completely agree with the way a writer has portrayed a character or structured his plot or endedthe story. u could take up from there and write a new story. I will refer you to Charlotte Bronte's 'Jane Eyre' and Jean Rhys 'Wide Sargasso Sea'. the latter takes up the story of the mad woman in the attic and fleshes out her character to show how she was driven to madness.Do read these two they are really interesting and who knows you might develop a taste for this type of writing. Another way you could resort to is taking the names of charaters who have died in a story and writing a story for them. The book'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead' (or are not dead,i'm not sure whichit is though these are two characters in Shakespeare's Hamlet who are killed)is an example.
Anyway, keep your mind wide open. don't try to block it or filter out information or else you'll never get ideas.
Hope this helps and good luck with your writing. I'm sure you'll come up with something sooner or later.
