Im in high school at the moment and im really looking into going to Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, CA. From what i read its one of the best photography schools around. Does anyone know about the cost? Quality? Size? ect. I would really love to become a fashion photographer. I know this road has limited opportunities so i would not mind becoming a portrait or wedding photographer. I am not the industrial photographer type. I like people. Also, do i need a portfolio. Im building mine right now as a Sophomore in high school. This is my website. Please comment on my work. Could i get in with the quality of my shots?

Thanks.

You have one heck of a website that shows off your photos beautifully.

Thank you for sharing them.

This is a tough call.
I went and graduated from Brooks.
It is a great school. That said I am not it is what it is worth it anymore as it is one of the most expensive colleges in the US.
In addition if you wanted to be a fashion photographer, I cant say that is the schools strongest suit. I do think it is a good place to start.
On the otherhand I have seem people that have taken only the assisting route and they tend to only parrot the people they have assisted for. This will limit you ability to become great.
So, If you have resources then Brooks is great. If you would have to take alot of student loans then I would suggest going there for one year and get the basics down then intern with an established fashion photographer.
Now one thing that must be empathized is to take business classes. If you become successful then you will also need to know how to run your own business. This is the difference between lasting a few years and making it a career.

Your portfolio will get you into either art center or Brooks, It is very good for your age. Much better than mine was.

Expensive, and why not.

Three of my friends went to Brooks and became successful. I did not attend and I became a truck driver.
