VOYAGE OF THE MAYFLOWER AND THE SPEEDWELL.
The two ships began the voyage, but the Speedwell leaked so badly that the expedition had to return to England, first to Dartmouth and then to Plymouth. Finally, the Pilgrims sold the Speedwell and had to set out from Plymouth, England, on board the Mayflower alone.

I don't think he was referring to the pilgrim's voyage. The Mayflower came alone I believe. Speedwell never made the voyage because of leaks and sabotage. He's probably referring to the Columbus voyage. Pinta, Santa Maria, and the Nina.
