I loved that series and was interested in another book or series by a different author that I should try.

Okay, speaking as someone who loves everything by Orson Scott Card also, I gotta take disagree with the previous answers. Sure Dune was great, but the books go downhill into long-windedness quickly after the first one. Asimov I have enjoyed on occasion, but never been enthused over, and 1984 and Brave New World aren't even series. THE series to read right now is actually a fantasy series (OSC also writes fantasy of course) and is called a Song of Ice and Fire, by George RR Martin. Very loosely inspired by the War of the Roses, its written with great action, great characters, and plots with HUGE surprises that you will never see coming -- in the same way as the original Ender book. Believe me, a fan of one series will be a big fan of the other -- you will love them. The first book is called A Game of Thrones. As a bonus, HBO is developing a series, each season to cover one of the books in the series.

I think you might like 1984 too. Brave New World is another good one (by Huxley). A lot of my friends who liked the Ender books liked Fahrenheit 451 too.

I recommend Isaac Asimov's Foundation series.

It kind of reminded me of 1984 by Orwell. I know that they are not similar settings (one in space and one on earth), but the feeling of the government and life is similar.
