Light is the Known, and Darkness is the unknown. However, there is something that contains both, and that is what I'm most interested in. It is the teachings of non-duality and advaita that all is within the consciousness, and light is a product of consciousness just as darkness is. However, the thing that is not illusion is the consciousness itself, that's the only thing that is real, all else is illusion. Check out some of these vids at http://umsonline.org/SpiritualVideoSatsang/VideoFreeSatsangChristineBreese.htm and you'll find out a lot about non-duality and the products of consicousness like dark and light. You can also check out these articles, some of which you'll find useful at http://www.ucmeta.org/Pages/ArticlesDirectory.htm

Darkness is when I close my eyes, when I turn off the light. When I look deep into my soul or stare into space. When the end draws near, I will feel the darkness.

Darkness to me is that time between when you turn off a light in a room until the time when your eyes begin to adjust to the darkness...it is at that time that I feel most vulnerable and I relate that kind of darkness to vulnerability.

Darkness:

An Absence of light - No, because our perception of light is but a small part of the entire electro-magnetic spectrum. There is 'light' around us at all times.

An Absence of knowledge - No. We all possess knowledge of somethings that others do not.

An absence of Faith - No. Every person has something in which they believe.

Therefore, I say that Darkness has no meaning for me. I find a constancy in the universe that fluctuates, but never fails.
