180 Mile Per Hour Winds
There was a wolf, a cat, and a hen.
All my king's horses...
All my king's men...
Still...no help comes.
I wait for the storm...there will be
No witch flying outside my
Window.
Not tonight.
Not this late hour.
Turkeys in the front yard,
Chickens huddled at the front
Door,
Wolf under my window...
Silence of Coyotes in the
Canefields.
Still...no help comes.
Winds are from the East.
Rains are from the East...
Three days now.
The radio talks of a monster
In the Gulf...crawling, stopping
To look around...choose oaks
Hundreds of years old...
Choose Plantation mansions...
Winds...150mph.
It will flatten the near-harvest
Canefields...sugar prices will
Soar.
It will prune the Oaks.
It will shift the house I live in
Three times...
Winds...180mph.
