Suppose a five year old child with a rare blood-type is dying from leukemia and her only hope of surviving is an immediate marrow transplant from the brother of her deceased biological father (the only known match). The uncle, who has had nothing to do with the child or her mother, refuses to donate his marrow. Is it morally acceptable to forcibly extract the marrow from him? Justify your answer and respond to problematic implications of your view.

If God is perfect, then God can create any possible universe. When he chose to create this universe, God knew (due to his omniscience) that he was creating a world in which I would eat a slice of pizza for lunch today. I had to have pizza for lunch today because this is part of the world God chose to create.

I always watch Ghost Hunters because it's one of my favorite shows. I believe in ghosts and stuff like that but i'm a little scared about stuff.. Sometimes i am home alone and i live right across the street from a cemetary. The cemetary is behind a really old church building. The cemetary contains dead peoples bodies from about around the 1800's and 1700's. Everytime i am home alone i heard odd sounds and footsteps i walk out of the office into the living room and kitchen and nothing is there. I am always a little scared and feel like i am being watched while i am on the computer. Is there any way there could be a ghost or spirit inside my home. My home is pretty old i don't know how old though so do you guys think there are ghost or spirits in my house?? The footsteps come out of nowhere and sometimes i hear metal scratching in my kitchen and T.V. on upstairs in my room when the T.V. was originally off. Plz help thanks.

In answering this question, I would like to know your opinion on the diachronic personal identity.
You may include Locke and Hume, or any other philosopher you think is essential to understanding personal identity.
My theory is that personal experience, and the memory of these experiences, form our identity.

When you point your foot:
Flat feet: can go far down and out
Arched feet : can go far out and down!
ME: in between!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have someone push on my ankles and toes, but will it mess my feet up if I do it wrong? I sit on my feet on a book, does that help? And I stand on the metal bar on my bunk bed for my arches??? Do these sound like helpful things to do??
How can I get higher arches on the bottom and be able to point my feet really far down? I do it every day. Its helped, but I want something EFFECTIVE AND FAST. Thanks!!!!!!!!

You gnawed
Along those gripping vines
Strangling your blooming flower
They – merciless
Ripped the veins of promised leaves
Whilst swallowing your bones
Crushing
And you struggled so hard
To be free
The elder-vine that stole your flower
Stole your blossoming bud
Ugly duckling
You realised it’s not rocket science
To eat the soaking fruit of cherub-babes
Shining futures could be ripped apart
As easily as your flower

I did this really quickly, and I'd just like your opinions, see whether or not you like the general sentiment etc. Thanks very much.

I know that after the sepoy rebellion in the late 1850s, the Honourable East India Company lost its monopoly over the opium trade, and I know the broad outline of the two opium wars story. But for those in the know, I am interested in the following questions.

1. Who actually produced the opium (indigenous laborers who sold it to the East India company, and later private firms? Or Gone With the Wind style planters?)

2. What social classes were involved in opium production, distribution, and consumption? What kind of money was on the line? Did this change after the mid 1850s?

3. What were the risks involved in the opium trade? Was it ever violent? If so, for whom?

4. What were major centers of opium production and distribution in China? Was it always smoked?

5. What are some good books you can recommend on this topic? Some to avoid?

Thank you in advance!

I have a Canon Powershot A570 IS. Today I took it out to take some pictures of the creek, where I noticed there was something wrong with my Tv (shutter) mode. Anytime I take a picture in this mode the result is just a bright white picture. I thought it was just overexposure since it was bright out, but when I brought it into a shaded/dark area it had the same result. Other modes seemed to work just fine.

Is this simply a result of it being too bright out, so it's capturing too much light even in a 1 sec. time lapse, or is there a setting I need to adjust for it to work? It was working fine just yesterday an and this is the first time I've had this problem

accordingy to history, there were a confederacy of aegean people, namely the Sea Peoples that spread all across the mediterranean, raiding, pillaging, and wrecking havoc all across the ancient mediterranean and Middle East, in places such as Egypt (Egypt was attacked, not but destroyed like the others), the hittite empire and other anatolian reions, and Ugarit. However, for some reason or another, the Phoenicians were spared the vicious onslaught given to other peoples. Why?
