I always watch Ghost Hunters because it's one of my favorite shows. I believe in ghosts and stuff like that but i'm a little scared about stuff.. Sometimes i am home alone and i live right across the street from a cemetary. The cemetary is behind a really old church building. The cemetary contains dead peoples bodies from about around the 1800's and 1700's. Everytime i am home alone i heard odd sounds and footsteps i walk out of the office into the living room and kitchen and nothing is there. I am always a little scared and feel like i am being watched while i am on the computer. Is there any way there could be a ghost or spirit inside my home. My home is pretty old i don't know how old though so do you guys think there are ghost or spirits in my house?? The footsteps come out of nowhere and sometimes i hear metal scratching in my kitchen and T.V. on upstairs in my room when the T.V. was originally off. Plz help thanks.

I've heard that if somebody dies in your household and doesn't reach the "portal" to heaven then that ghost will stay there it happened to my friend. When her dad died from Pancriotic cancer there was a ghost in her house and when her dad opened the "portal" the ghost left for good. And if my house is old and makes supernatural noises u say explain why my Television turns on by itself when nobody is home? and i do not watch too much of ghost hunters because it only comes on once in a while.

My friend had a camera that can spot ghosts or something but it looked like a normal everyday camera well when my friend took a picture of herself behind her was her dead father clear as day she could see it. Also i was reading a haunted houses book from the library near me and there was a picture of Abraham Lincoln's wife (this picture was taken after Lincoln's death) and behind Mrs. Lincoln was Abraham Lincoln when i looked closely at it it was definitley Abraham Lincoln clear as day.

Okay u people don't seem to get it. there is no wood in my home no wood at all. but too me my house is really old. there could've been wood at the time possibly 100 years ago or so. U have to witness these things you can't just make a hypothesis and say ghosts are not real thats not facing the facts. I also hear whispering and it's not from me or anything else it sounds like my name. So obviously u don't understand. so get your facts straight.

Now, first let me say that I do not believe in Ghosts. However, I have had some strange things happen over the years.
First, my daughters both think our house is haunted. They are now both over 18 and still believe it.
Then, about a year and a half ago, my daughter was looking over my shoulder while I was on the computer. At the same time we both turned out heads and looked to the right, at the wall. I turned back and she said, 'you saw it too, didn't you."
Both of us saw an apparition walk into the room and across the wall. I will find a rational reason for it. My daughter still teases me. It was a little chilling.

Ok listen if you watch Ghost Hunters then you know what to look for. As for the wiring it can be in your wall but if the wire covering is not properly shielded it will give off a high EMF. Now if you are hearing whispers it may be nothing or it could be a haunting. It seems like you are looking for people to say yeah you are right your house is haunted. If you watch as much Ghost Hunters as you say you do, then you know that you have to approach things completely logically. You could just have a residual haunting. Other then the TV turning on when nobody is home that is all it sounds like to me. Try getting some EPVs if you can. That may be the only way on finding out what it is for sure.

If she's a friendly ghost, why call for proffessional help? Ghosts are people too, dude. Just go about your life. She's not strangling you in your sleep or howling late at night. Best thing you could do, if you're really interested in this, is research the houses previous owners. See if your address matches any old newspaper reports about people dying there or anything like that. Previous owners is more important. Even if she died in a hospital, she'd rather be back at home, right? A lot of other answerers are saying she's a demon. She's not. Demons are always destructive and mean. Is she?

try watching taps - they are way cool! anyways, on one episode, they mentioned how some alignment of electricity (the way something is wired maybe?) can give the feeling of being spooked by the paranormal. always go into something like that with the idea that isn't what it is to objectively figure it out. did that sound smart? lol anyways, i too, lived in an old house across from the city cemetary which meant very old graves. I would hear footsteps coming from the upstairs (that i NEVER went into) and there was always (if i believed what my husband told me) an explanation for the sounds. people had actually died in that house too which is more likely to be haunted than where somebodys body is buried. it creeped me out living across from that cemetary but my daughter made light of it telling me at least the neighbors are quiet. the only thing that actually worried me was when my husband would panic, and the only thing that panicked him about the house was when the one of the upstairs bedroom lights would come on after he had nailed the door to up there shut. that happened often. i get spooked easy too, but i would try to ignore it (ignore it and it won't be happening?) and listen to my husbands explanations (whether he believed them or not they made me feel better) and i got along fine. glad i don't live there anymore though! good luck!

From what I have studied and discovered that ghosts are not real, or at least people can not detect ghosts... I've examined (crazy little hobby of mine) people's 'haunted' houses searching for proof of ghosts and such...
The house I grew up in was around 120 years old at the time, and I used to hear 'footsteps' now I'm convinced ghosts are not real, the noises stop. =S The sounds of the wood in the house stretching or sounds your mind makes up from being paranoid may be causing you to think you are hearing ghosts!
I don't think you have ghosts...

I beleive in Ghosts and Spirits. But what bugs me is who's is it. I have ghosts in my house. They come and go. I believe it is my loved ones who have passed on and got bored on the plane they are in and decided to pay a visit. Amazing what the dead can do. I would not worry about it. Think of it this way. That there is indeed life after physical death!
Very comfoting !

Old houses make a lot of noises that aren't supernatural. But even if your house is haunted, people who have passed aren't anything to be afraid of!! The living are what you should be scared of. Just claim your house and let the "spirits" know you won't be uncomfortable in your own home.

I think your house could have ghosts. Why not? They are pretty benign of course or you'd know for sure they are there. Why not try to make contact?
If you have trouble believing in ghosts, you'll never make contact. They won't waste their time on you.

I think you are just scaring yourself.
Honestly, I think that it is a little childish to believe in ghosts. It's like believing in the tooth fairy or santa clause. They have never been seen and are easy to replicate and imitate. I think you just need a good dose of reality. Think about this: If a person died, do you seriously think they would want to spend their time walking around scaring people by turning on their tvs? That's just my opinion though.
