When you point your foot:
Flat feet: can go far down and out
Arched feet : can go far out and down!
ME: in between!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have someone push on my ankles and toes, but will it mess my feet up if I do it wrong? I sit on my feet on a book, does that help? And I stand on the metal bar on my bunk bed for my arches??? Do these sound like helpful things to do??
How can I get higher arches on the bottom and be able to point my feet really far down? I do it every day. Its helped, but I want something EFFECTIVE AND FAST. Thanks!!!!!!!!

There is no quick ways, improvement is slow and small. I don't know if what you're doing is harmful. It really depends on how you're doing it. What you're doing sounds like stretches. You also need to develop the muscles that support the arch.
Try this: sit on a chair and put a towel on the floor. Place your ankle on the corner of the towel and use your toes to scrunch up the towel under your foot. Keep the outer edge of your foot on the floor.

I have flat feet.... very flat. I was a sprinter and a long distance runner. Flat feet in no way slows anyone down. I'm 34 and I ran 10 miles 2 days ago in under an hour. What flat feet does is give you posture problems and pain, its just an obstacle like anything else. Since a flat foot doesn't spring you as well as one that is arched... it plays havoc on your feet, legs, BACK, all the way up. Your gate is just more painful, but I blew away the competition when it came to running - has nothing to do with ability. It has to do with medical problems. Flat feet cause them. Its a dis-advantage to have flat feet - basically your gate(walk or stride) will never be like its supposed to and you will end up with pain and posture problems.

Hi,
I have very arched feet but they weren't always like this. When I was younger I did gymnastics. Me, being the stupid kid I was, would stand on the bars and wrap my feet around it trying to be a monkey(...yes). So, after 3 or 4 yreas of this, I quit gymnastics and a year later started dancing. During the time I wasn't in dance or gymnastics, my feet didn't..un-arch(if that makes ANY sense).
But now, so that I can go onto pointe easier once I start, I am getting a thermaband for christmas. You can get them at any sports/yoga/dance store. They help stretch your arch, and the one I am ordering comes with a pamplet filled with exercises you can do and what they do. Follow the link below and click "Accessories", it is the last one on the page. You can get them in Medium, Heavy, and Super Heavy wieghts. Also check out, on the same page, the Pro Arch. It should help too. Good luck, and happy dancing!

well...some ppl naturally have great arches but, obviously you dont...yes it is good to have arched feet but, i am not so sure that is all that great for the muscles in your feet to stand on a metal bar...it will help you if you have a friend push your toes down to the floor but, it does not matter if your feet are on a book or not lol but, make sure whoever does that knows what they are doing or you explain it to them first because, (do you know what sickled feet is?) well if you do, then, make sure you dont do it...sickling your feet can sometimes be rolling in or turning in instead of out! never do that, you can get shinsplints and can sometimes damage your knees. just turn your feet out when you stretch them and you should be fine!

be careful! and good luck!
