accordingy to history, there were a confederacy of aegean people, namely the Sea Peoples that spread all across the mediterranean, raiding, pillaging, and wrecking havoc all across the ancient mediterranean and Middle East, in places such as Egypt (Egypt was attacked, not but destroyed like the others), the hittite empire and other anatolian reions, and Ugarit. However, for some reason or another, the Phoenicians were spared the vicious onslaught given to other peoples. Why?

It would be my strong inclination that the sea-peoples were in fact related to (if not directly part of) the Phoenicians.
the phoenician influence stretched from lebanon to carthage, and beyond, and as a loose knit collection of related settlements, they were probably part of the sea-people's history.
In addition to this the Phoenicians strong naval power, and mighty fortress-city of Tyre would have made them a formidable enemy, hope this helps

The term Sea peoples (peoples of the sea) comes from the Egyptian King Merneptah, successor to Ramses II. He successfully fought off the invading Sea peoples. According to Sanford Holst author of Phoenicians: Lebannon's Epic Heritage, the Phoenicians allowed the Sea-Peoples to attack the Egyptians with Phoenicia's tactical assistance. The Phoenician's had earned the Sea peoples trust through trade during a famine before the attack on Egypt, and that is why the Sea peoples spared the Phoenicians.

I know about the Phonecians i just learned it :). But i don't know about that. Maybe this.. The Phonecians were great trading peoples so maybe they traded with these "sea Peoples" so they did not hurt or pillage anybody or the place.
