A friend describes certain events in life like "a salmon swimming upstream". Do you ever struggle against things that weren't meant to be?

i'm looking for a good pottery wheel to buy my significant other for christmas. she is quite good at it, so i want something nice. my problem is that i don't know the first thing about pottery. i'd like to get her a nice wheel with an electric foot pedal, and enough hp to center weight well. i think 1/2hp or higher should do. if possible, i'd also like a small kiln. unless you can use the oven?? any advice is appreciated, thank you.

Some philosophies, like Buddhism, consider hopelessness a problem of courage and self-confidence. In the West, we consider the absence of hope as a symptom of depression.

Are you more aligned with Eastern or Western thinking on the topic of hopelessness?

I am 16 and writing a novel. I want it to be a good size, so at least 80,000 words. I go to school, get homework and go out all day on Saturdays.

Can you recomend a reasonable amount of words per day for me, a target for me to aim to. Thanks for your thoughts.

To reiterate, I am just wondering what would be a good goal to set. I work better if I have a goal.An I just wasting my time if I only write 300 words a day? Would I be better off aiming for 1000?

Assume you are a philosopherHow would you communicate that you and they are mentally alike even if morphologically and physiologically you and they appear very different?

Remember this Q has been raised in the philosophy context. Limit yourself to one or two good ideas supported by argument, if you can. The Q is intended to reverse our human perspective about our view of life forms below us on the evolutionary tree assuming life forms may exist above us.

Walk Away

Every time you walk away I say come back
You never even turn around I knew it was over
I stand there thanking what i did to deserve this
I try calling you but you never answer my calls
When i try to get you out of my mind it comes right back
When i don't to hear our song it comes on
I want to keep the memories you throw them all away
When i pass the spot where we met i start to cry because your gone

What do you thank about this poem? it is called walk away, should i add anything, take out anything, or keep it the same? should it be called Walk Away? be truthful

My question is really a two parter.
1: what is the best way to copyright and keep your script from being stolen or rewritten just enough to steal, without spending too much.
2: I live in a small town in central illinois and dont have the ability to run around california slipping scripts into directors mailboxes, what is a good way to get the script out there for directors to see and read without spending time and a fortune running around the country.

I hadn't read the book; only seen the movie, so I didn't know what to think when I heard all the talk about how different the movie was from the book. There's some stuff that I don't like, for instance Arya's character being changed from an Elf to a human, which the movie did. But, I think that the movie fixed a lot of stuff and improved some stuff. Does anyone else agree?

god is almighty, this is a truth, if it's not true then god does not exist at all , don't u agree? the question is: if god is almighty, can he create a great rock that he can not lift ?

if the answer is yes then he's not almighty coz simply he can't lift it.
if no then he's not almighty.

that's why i don't believe in god:if he really exists, i think he lies. if he doesn't, that's cool coz i don't wanna go to hell just because i don't believe in him.

Does anyone know of any books they think I would like? I love sci-fi/fantasy and some of my favorite books are Ranger's Apprentice, Alex Rider books, Double Helix, Maximum Ride, Ender's Game, Seventh Tower, Hell Phone, The Bar Code Tattoo, Uglies, City of Darkness, Truesight, The City of Ember, The Giver, etc.
I feel like I've run out of enjoyable things to read at my library and need some suggestions, thanks! I'm a teen, so I'd prefer if books were in that age group.
