In two ways.. Firstly, with rights come duties.. While a right
curbs the power of the government or an authority-holding body, and duties bind us..

Secondly, on the more abstract level, total freedom - could easily be interpreted as the will of the strong.. Thats natural justice after all isn't it? The big guys win.. So rights and laws
are often just a compromise we reach with each other.. so
technically, nobody loses.

Your human rights don't affect your freedom, but other people's human rights certainly can affect your freedom. So it is the interaction of the whole that limit the freedoms of the individual.

Human rights are simply the rights to survive. we are given these rights by design. by this I mean we have hands and feet, thus we can block assaults and flee danger. We have minds and hearts, thus we can dream and create.
Limitations are the result of society trying to live together. We agree not to kill one another except in defense. We agree not to take each others things, wives, children etc.
We accept these limitations for the benefit of the whole society. No this does not mean we all agree. So we agree to a process of challenge to existing rules.

Hmm... Well you cannot murder someone without going to prison (assuming you get caught) and so that kinda takes your freedom of murdering someone away. BUT we also have the right to life and justice. You going to prison for murdering someone would be justice for taking their life... In my opinion we need those limitations on freedom to ensure the rights we really deserve to have... like life and justice.

I hope that came out sounding the way I intended...

By voting, I now am in control of your life. I can now support the status quot to affect all areas of your life. You may not like paying taxes, we now have control over you and can extract that money under penalty of law. The government and law has a primary function of limiting your actions and mine in society.
