I'm thinking of writing a book about a 16 year old girl who falls in love with this 30 something year old man who dumps her when she gets pregnant. When she tells her mom, she kicks her out. Is this a good idea or not? Please don't sugar coat anything. I'm 17 but I can take it :)

It is a base to question and to ponder live. It is to better understand ourselves, our world, and our place in it.
The word "philosophy" means a lot of things to a lot of people and when I tell people I studied or will study Philosophy, it sometimes invites them to tell me about "their philosophies" (anyone that has one worth listening to, will not just offer it up. It's not a matter of secrecy, just a matter of the fact that it will take a fairly long and demanding discussion to define and explain it in a way that would do it justice.)or to ask me about mine. In this sense, one's philosophy is one's fundamental intellectual viewpoint on life - what hopefully puts it in the familiar context of intellectual knowledge. http://www.unnu.com/newhome/attractions/philosophy/whatisphilosophy.html
I think that a lot of people on here have lost the meaning what it is and the freedom of thought that it provides.
I have seen too have subjective opinions on questions asked here. Your View ??

I only has to move up and down and side to side, But it has to be smooth. Will every head fit. Are they all standard? I don't have much money and my camera is light, but I'm trying to use professional equipment. I have to do alot of moving around so light and quick set up would be good. Any make and model #s would be helpful. Also where can I buy it? Thanks!

Hours After The Attack On The World Trade Center

Weeks ago, I fell in love with that bright city.
I took no photographs, surprised by how
diminutive stood Liberty, the pity
I had so long envisioned on her brow.

The streets of low Manhattan cleanly raced
along the base of building fronts which bore
toward the clouds -- a pale, calm canyon's face
around the Towers, built when I was four.

I've cried this morning to a liquid shred
to see one hour's potency, to see
the desperate faces of the knowing dead
choosing to die in flight instead of heat.

Three black birds hurried skyward once the last
abomination pierced the southern tower,
as if, like mine, their courses had been cast
to seek the Kingdom, glory, and the power

and brood upon the first great desecration.
"Then there was war in Heaven," Saint John wrote.
The fire which scarred that moment of our nation
was nothing less than falling rebel host.

In Ramah

In Moscow, red and yellow blooms were laid
before our nation's embassy. The bells
of Notre Dame rang out. An esplanade
of candles flared for us in Kosovo.

The Muslims in Jerusalem rejoiced
to witness Allah slay the infidels,
while silence from the free and many-voiced
in South Korea recognized our slain.

St. Paul's was filled to bursting, and its Queen
wore black, but in New York, the dimming skyline
remains a seared and brokenhearted scene
whose towering Twins we'll never glimpse again.

September 11, 2001

How can I ever put those scenes to bed --
the bodies tumbling from the upper floors,
imaginings of all the private wars
which must have marked the dying of the dead?

How can I fail to weep till I am dust,
remembering the ashen forms that filled
those streets, and must I love the ones who killed?
The answers come, "You cannot," and "You must."

I want to write a prologue in the eyes of another person explaining some things that happened before the story occured, but I also want to have something in the beginning that is part of the novel, but doesn't follow the main character (there would be no other chapters focused on this one person.) I was wondering if it would be alright if I started with both of these together, but the first person is narrating half the prologue, and then having "***" divide the two and lead into the second half of the story (they go together.) Personally, I feel this may be a little too much to start off with. Does anyone have any tips that may help me start with this? I've been wanting to dtart writing for a long time, but this is the hardest part for me. I don't know how too. I wrote about twelve pages before scraping them before they were not strong enough. I want to do it right this time!

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

I am writing a collection of short erotic stories. All of the characters in the story are in the same town, and the stories could intertwine with each other into a larger story. One in particular will force/coerce many of the characters into participating in various acts, some taboo, immoral, or possibly illegal. Some characters will be willing to fall into his desires, but others may find it a bit shocking and will need to learn to enjoy the acts. This one controlling character (male) will need to have sufficient power/prestige to have 'bought' the police and have powerful connections, such that he would a) have little fear of being arrested, and b) could keep people from leaving the town by destroying them with rumors, imprisoning them, etc if they did. Given this, what ideas do you have for a background for this character? How did he get this power? Does a specific image come to your minds for how he should look? What kind of job do you see him in?

The guy wrote each state governor promising slavery would be fine if they did not seceed from the union. The guy didnt care in the least about slaves. And even as the historical truth comes out this nation continues to think he was trying to free opressed people.
After reading this guys analysis of Lincoln I began to think there is hope.

I have spent almost a year now writing my life story. My daughter read the first 40 pages about 10 months ago and told me that she was really impressed with it and couldn't wait until I finished it so she could read it all. I have now written over 400 pages and have gone over the first 200 pages twice to make sure that it's readable. I have done my best to make it a little humurous, but what I want now, is a few people, who are readers and have the time to read it, to go over some selected parts of the book and give me an honest opinion.
If you are interested could you please reply, and I will e-mail you with 10 or 20 pages.

When we fall, we get scratched and bruised, sometimes even a bit broken. But we learn, and the next time we fall, it's not quite so bad. Should one seek to fall well, or should one seek to shun entirely those situations in which falling is more likely?
