There are some instructional dance songs that tell you to "let your backbone slide". What does this mean?

when you do a kinda side step and let your back sway into it. Best way I know how to describe it

I always thought it was a feeling of involuntary movement that overcame a person when they were in a relaxed state, as above, and receptive to the music.. like the music or beat takes over the body and shoulders start twitching when the brain hears music?? The other implication is that you (almost) have to consciously stop the movements by holding your hand, shoulder, etc with deliberate effort, cause it'll start moving on it's own to the music. haha ... only how I see it !

It's your "back bone slip" It's something that's incorporated in to any dance when you are really feeling the music. It's kind of a drop motion to the beat of the music. It's African American term meaning get loose, relax feel the music.

It sort of does mean that you are a pushover, someone that is easy to walk over, and easy to push around. It was probably meant as an insult but that's just my opinion.
