The process that makes thoughts about yourself is not different from the processes that make thoughts about things other than you.

What is your judgement on the above statement?

Besides movies that really focus on dancing (like "Dirty Dancing"), I'm hunting for ones that have maybe one memorable dance scene, like Uma Thurman & Travolta in "Pulp Fiction" or Debra Winger & Travolta in whatever that cowboy movie was.

There are 7 of us in the group. I need a suggestion for a skit or play written in Greek Chorus format from which to get a scene to do. Thank you.

Are there any examples in history in which one message altered a movement (war, strategy, invasion, massacre, etc) so much that it changed the fate of a country, and the world today?

For example: [this isn't true] The country of Zebu's fate rested on Mr. Z's army. They were down on supplies, etc, but luckily, one remaining messenger survived the Yebu enemy's trap and was able to carry on the message to Mr. Z saying that they are heading into a trap.

That message saved the whole of Zebu. Without it, the powerful country of Zebu wouldn't exist.

Something like that. I'm writing an essay on how one little message can impact the world to HUGE limits

Thank you so much!

I think that if you don't actively believe in a personal God concerned with the fate of humans, you are an "atheist," because you *have no belief* in a deity. You can be an atheist without categorically denying the possibility God exists.

Take the example of the chicken and the egg question, 'What came first, the chicken or the egg?'

Since there must be a chicken to lay an egg one would say that there must have been the chicken first. However there must have been an egg from which the chicken hatched that laid the egg. Therefore there must have been a chicken to lay the egg and there must have been an egg from which the chicken who laid the egg hatched which must have been laid by a chicken .... etc.

So my question is, firstly, who does someone go about solving this question without relying on external information, i.e. the chicken evolved to the point at which we know today or god created the first chicken?

How does solving this problem help in the explanation of the origin of life on earth? Evolution and creation theory both rely on circular reasoning, creation is true because the book says so and the book is true because all things were created, evolution is true because things evolved and since things evolved evolution must be true. Neither of these arguments hold any credibility.

Please explain if possible

Thanks.

Someone used Warren Farrell as a source to prove men make less money then women. Then someone responds with this.

"Sigh. You just cited an article sourced from WARREN FARRELL, laughingstock of university sociology departments across the nation. And I highly doubt pretty much all of those numbers. So when you can cite these numbers from scholars anywhere who are not Warren Farrell, we'll talk".

Is this a type of logical fallacy?

I have read evidence that Troy was in fact on England instead of Turkey, and that the book by homer was more fiction then fact.

Does anyone know much about the ancient history of Cornwall? Someone mentioned to me that this is the site they say it took place. that there are ruins there that go with the story that it tells.

That's my last Duchess painted on the wall,
Looking as if she were alive. I call
That piece a wonder, now: Fra Pandolf's hands
Worked busily a day, and there she stands.
Will't please you sit and look at her? I said
"Fra Pandolf" by design, for never read
Strangers like you that pictured countenance,
The depth and passion of its earnest glance,
But to myself they turned (since none puts by
The curtain I have drawn for you, but I)
And seemed as they would ask me, if they durst,
How such a glance came there; so, not the first
Are you to turn and ask thus. Sir, 'twas not
Her husband's presence only, called that spot
Of joy into the Duchess' cheek: perhaps
Fra Pandolf chanced to say "Her mantle laps
Over my lady's wrist too much," or "Paint
Must never hope to reproduce the faint
Half-flush that dies along her throat": such stuff
Was courtesy, she thought, and cause enough
For calling up that spot of joy. She had
A heart---how shall I say?---too soon made glad,
Too easily impressed; she liked whate'er
She looked on, and her looks went everywhere.
Sir, 'twas all one! My favour at her breast,
The dropping of the daylight in the West,
The bough of cherries some officious fool
Broke in the orchard for her, the white mule
She rode with round the terrace---all and each
Would draw from her alike the approving speech,
Or blush, at least. She thanked men,---good! but thanked
Somehow---I know not how---as if she ranked
My gift of a nine-hundred-years-old name
With anybody's gift. Who'd stoop to blame
This sort of trifling? Even had you skill
In speech---(which I have not)---to make your will
Quite clear to such an one, and say, "Just this
Or that in you disgusts me; here you miss,
Or there exceed the mark"---and if she let
Herself be lessoned so, nor plainly set
Her wits to yours, forsooth, and made excuse,
---E'en then would be some stooping; and I choose
Never to stoop. Oh sir, she smiled, no doubt,
Whene'er I passed her; but who passed without
Much the same smile? This grew; I gave commands;
Then all smiles stopped together. There she stands
As if alive. Will't please you rise? We'll meet
The company below, then. I repeat,
The Count your master's known munificence
Is ample warrant that no just pretence
Of mine for dowry will be disallowed;
Though his fair daughter's self, as I avowed
At starting, is my object. Nay, we'll go
Together down, sir. Notice Neptune, though,
Taming a sea-horse, thought a rarity,
Which Claus of Innsbruck cast in bronze for me!

I have a question about V.C. Andrews. She has a ton of published novels...just how many of these books are actually written by her, before her death?

By my count, she has only written nine works, but there are so many other novels with her name, published after her death...

I always find that a little strange, considering these books are written by someone else, but still possess her name.

Anyway, how many did SHE actually write?
