A series by Lawrence Watt-Evans. Book 1- Dragon Weather Book 2- The Dragon Society Book 3- Dragon Venom He is a wonderful author! His books are very original. Not quite like any other fantasy. I highly recommend them!

The original and ultimate fantasy: JRR Tolkein's 4 book set, The Hobbit plus the Lord of the Ring Trilogy. While technically not a single novel, they all lead from one to the next.

Or: any of Madeleine L'Engle's books in the time quintet: A Wrinkle in Time, A Wind at the Door, A Swiftly Tilting Planet, Many Water, and An Acceptable Time

Frank Hurbert's Dune. It was printed in 1965 abd tge original text had five appendiges. He spent five years living in the California desert doing reserch. He even created his own religion for the novel. You really aught to read it, even though it is more sci fi but pure fantasy with no scifi influence would have to be The Mists of Avalon. It is the best.

Then again, there is always the people series. People of the Earth, People of the River, and so on. They were written by a pair of american archiologists who only dig in the Americas about the ancient neative tribes.

Well, aside from what I'm writing now, The Lord of the Rings novels or The Hobbit.

Not too big on most modern fantasy.

Look here:

http://www.life-after-harry-potter.com

and you can see that it's The Hobbit. Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, a short review of each book along with a brief summary of adult content. There is also a "Reader's Choice" list of favorite books, and a list of heroine sorcery fantasy books.

I hope this helps.

The Narnia books. I also love the Dune series very much, not that it is fantasy, exactly. I have loved Tolkien's works since I first was introduced in 1966.
