I have a question about V.C. Andrews. She has a ton of published novels...just how many of these books are actually written by her, before her death?

By my count, she has only written nine works, but there are so many other novels with her name, published after her death...

I always find that a little strange, considering these books are written by someone else, but still possess her name.

Anyway, how many did SHE actually write?

The Dollanganger Series
-Flowers in the Attic
-Petals in the Wind
-If There be Thorns
-Seeds of Yesterday
-Garden of Shadows (started by her, but finished by author Andrew Neiderman)

Part of the Casteel Series
-Heaven
-Dark Angel
The other three were inspired by her, but written again by Andrew Neiderman

There were other stories written, stand alone ones, a short story, another book and "My Sweet Audrina" all attributed to her.

All other books released under her name are in fact written by ghost write Andrew Neiderman. The success of the Dollanganger Series was enough to captailize on her name after death. I guess V.C. Andrews sounds better then Andrew Neiderman.

Garden of Shadows and Fallen Hearts were the last two she had actually written according to Wikipedia. This list includes all the ones she wrote during her actual life. The person who is the "ghostwriter" is Andrew Neiderman. Here is a list of books that the REAL V.C Andrews wrote:

Dollanganger Series (Flowers in the attic books):

* Flowers in the Attic (1979)
* Petals on the Wind (1980)
* If There Be Thorns (1981)
* Seeds of Yesterday (1984)
* Garden of Shadows (1986) (started by Andrews, finished by Andrew Neiderman)

Stand alone works

* I slept with my uncle on my wedding night (by Andrews, her first published short story, by an unknown publisher, and no record exists)
* Gods of Green Mountain (1972), a science fiction novel, currently only available in e-book format.
* My Sweet Audrina (1982)

The Casteel series

Heaven (1985)
Dark Angel (1986)
Fallen Hearts (1988) ("inspired" by Andrews, finished by Neiderman)

everything after that was COMPLETELY Andrew Neiderman.

The reason so many are still in her name is because she started some story ideas before her death. They found an author who would keep to her ideas but I have a problem with that. In the later books they keep changing the history of the story.

She only wrote a few, not 9. I think one or two were incomplete at her death.

Since the books were so popular they have other people write under her name, like her...but it's getting old. The stories are all the same now.

If you have a VC Andrews book and want to know if she wrote it or if the ghost writer wrote it, check out her name on the cover. If there is a small little copyright symbol next to the name, it was written by the ghost writer.
