This photograph is one of two little kids,a boy and girl, taken from behind, they are walking from a garden arbour into the sunlight. They are nearly in silouette. Their clothing suggests 1940s or early 50s. If I remember the story properly, their father was a fairly famous World War II photographer. It may have been published in Life Magazine, but I am not sure about that. This photograph was his most requested photo. In his interview the photographer laughed about how he won awards for his war photos, but the people wanted the one of his children. I am not sure, but they MIGHT have been English. Does any one know what I am talking about? I used to see it a lot when I was a kid, but I haven't seen it in years. I want to use it in a presentation, but can't find a copy of it.

"Money makes the world go round", or so the saying goes. But what is the true value of money? Money consists of (in Australia) pieces of thin plastic with numbers printed on them and metal discs with numbers stamped on them, but what is the true value of a pocket full of this stuff?

Try this, take only what you are wearing right now and a fist full of money. Go to the middle of a desert, the ocean, the top of a mountain or any place hostile and far from other people. Now try to live there with only what you are wearing and your money, no tools, no communications, no help just money. How long would you survive? Or if this is too much trouble go to a zoo and jump in the lions cage, especially one that has cubs in it, and try to pay the lion with money not to attack or try to pay a bear not to maul you if you threaten it. How much luck would you have?

So my question is what (if anything) is the true value of money? Why is it that people will spend their lives in pursuit of it? Since money seems only to hold a virtual value to humans, is it that those obsessed with it are virtually insane?

What is the true value of money?

Please explain your answers and the reasoning behind them.

Thanks.

I'll be getting the Nikon D40x tomorrow, and as a first time DSLR user, I want the cheerdance competition of my sister to be my first "project". As much as possible I want to have good photographs.

I wonder, since cheerdances are mostly girls moving consistently (dancing), will the D40x capture objects/people in motion accurately without problems? Are there any settings I need to adjust in the camera?

Any advice would help!:)

Some may say that people can share the same opinions, same ideas, etc. But is it even possible that the exact same idea or concept is being thought by two different minds. After all, we can never know what's cooking in the other guy's pot and we can never really prove with accuracy what the other guy is thinking. Also, even if guy A tells guy B what he is thinking, he would be using words and the way the words were undestood by the other guy, guy B, can be very different from what guy A had in mind. Words can never tell the whole picture of the state of mind of Mr.A and Mr.B can never capture the whole meaning of what Mr.A said. So it's like A and B are imprisoned in their own minds.

I've never read the Last of the Mohicans (nor any of the Leatherstocking tales) and was wondering if I should read The Deerslayer or The Pathfinder before I throw myself into Last of the Mohicans?

I know that Cooper wrote LotM before the Deerslayer/Pathfinder in real life, but both of the other stories come before LotM in the Leatherstocking tales, and I was just curious as to whether reading Deerslayer/Pathfinder first would make Last of the Mohicans any more enjoyable?

Can anyone help me out?

I'm a teen who loves to act but I have this thing where I only want to audition for the things i want to audition for. And see, most of the reasons is because i sort of have a physical disability, lets just say I cant extend my right arm- it's at a certain angle..in life it's not a huge deal because it's not like I'm handicapped I can do things. I've been in a couple of plays before where I had more than a supporting role.. but when it comes to auditioning for plays..like musicals that has dances for instance, i want to- but i feel like I can't..I've been told i'll never know what they'll think of my arm but i just get nervous about it.

And the musical Snow Queen that's going to be holding auditions tomorrow at night but I do not know what to do! my friends and family keep pressuring me to audition for anything I can to get the hang of it but i have all these mixed feelings. Please help? and this is serious so no silly answers please.

Fellow history majors, perhaps you can help me with this (or anyone else who likes history for that matter).

We all know the story of Vlad the Impaler, the "Son of the Dragon" who mercilessly tortured and killed his enemies as well as innocent men, women, and children.

So why do certain people in Romania see him as some sort of folk hero? My guess was that he dealt with the Turks and other possible invaders.

But how does defending one's country justify the murders of thousands of people in such a cruel fashion?

I have a new girl friend. She devorced not long ago
We came to like each other, already had sexual realationship. Recently we decided to live together .

Accidentally I found her ex husband photo on her bag,She is still keeping it. sometimes somebody called her mobile she didint want to talk beside me.I became jealous.

Last night we had an arguement, cuz it happened again .She told me it was nobody. But I couldnt believe her.I was pretty uncomfortable.
