Some may say that people can share the same opinions, same ideas, etc. But is it even possible that the exact same idea or concept is being thought by two different minds. After all, we can never know what's cooking in the other guy's pot and we can never really prove with accuracy what the other guy is thinking. Also, even if guy A tells guy B what he is thinking, he would be using words and the way the words were undestood by the other guy, guy B, can be very different from what guy A had in mind. Words can never tell the whole picture of the state of mind of Mr.A and Mr.B can never capture the whole meaning of what Mr.A said. So it's like A and B are imprisoned in their own minds.

They may have a similar concept of a dollar bill but will they see the EXACT same dollar bill? Will one see a a new dollar bill while the other see a worn-out one? And what about the ideas or concepts they associate with a dollar bill? Will one see the blood of the economy while the other see the root of all evil?

I wish to explain my answer with an example. Plato, in his alegory of the cave, explained how people came to understand thier environments, not by an understanding of the real wold as it is but by an understanding from one persons perception of it, a cup is not a cup but an understanding of a cup agreed apon by the masses, it could be anything that conatins liquid. So one person can show another a cup and the other will recognise it as a cup, however the other person could also include mugs and steep bowls as cups while the first person would not.

Recent research into the operation of the human mind showed that the mind does not in fact see the world as it is but instead builds a map of the world around it using concepts and images to help it to understand the world around it.

I would suggest that while it is possible for two people to have a similar idea, being the same along context at the same time no two people can have the same idea at the same time but it may be possible for two people to have the same idea at different times.

Hope this helps.

How about visual concepts? Mention a dollar bill and I'm sure both minds would visualize the same object.

Oh, ok, got the point. I just thought of that answer in a spur of a moment. Did not bother to analyze with much depth. Geezzz, because if I were to think of a dollar bill it would be something new and crisp! And I thought everybody would visualize the same! LOL!

Hey, but you were asking, "is there something that two minds can share?", so how sure are we that both me and my Mom aren't thinking of the same thing when you mention a dollar bill? Let's say, 10 minutes ago she gave me a new bill, crisp and clean, and right now she would ask me if where the bill is? Since we both saw the same money isn't it possible that we would be thinking the same object that we last saw? What are the chances that we would be thinking of the same new, crisp and clean dollar bill?

I am so sure of this that I have a one-sentence answer.
No two thoughts are the same, not even in the same mind; they can merely be similar at best.
