See I'm really slow and dumb and can't think of anything to write in a poem, but I want to show her that I love her so someone please just tell me a poem that you think will be a good poem to give her. Thank You

Other people can tell you or inform you of things you can't imagine, but is it possible for you to do it by yourself?

Here is an excerpt from a poem. I like the poem. I can't find the complete text. My mother wrote it, but she is now very sick and I may never find the original, although I believe it was published:

"The heart has hunger of its own,
That cannot be assuaged,
By rote, or rule, or numbered page."

If you do feel you can interpret it, let me know what you think of it as well. Please remember my mother wrote it, and it would be really lame if you were to leave a stupid or sarcastic remark (as a very small percentage of yahoo answer people do).

how are you "you" and not any one of billions of other people? how is it that each of us is born as "us" and not someone else? does anyone else find this as astonishingly bizarre as I do? I don't know exactly what I'm trying to say.. but just think about it. In all the generations in all of human history out of all the possibilities you ended up as you and not someone else (or something else). is this predestined do you believe or mere chance? it just seems... odd... to be this way. for example, why aren't we everybody else as well as ourselves? are we every single one of our body cells and if so why don't we feel like we've died when we cut our hair, etc? could go on and on but maybe someone can give me a little insight on this. or at least an opinion?

Blaise Pascal, 17thC philosopher, argued for a belief in God on the grounds that if God DID NOT exist the belief would only cost a weekly trip to church, and piety - but if God DID exist it would earn you eternal rewards. It's called "Pascal's wager", and an obviously faulty argument for belief or anything else. But don't we often make decisions for fear of imagined risks, or for imagined potential rewards? Do you? Why?

can anyone tell me where I can find instructions on how to make a traditional venetian mask?

And I don't mean going to a craft store and buying a piece of plastic to put feathers and glitter on.

I've bee trying to figure out how to make one for a while, but most traditional artists won't tell anyone their techniques. I can understand why, but then again how are the rest of us to know how?

I've searched google and all I get are places to buy a finished mask or an unfinished mask. I'm curious to know how to make it from scratch...any suggestions?

I like to do writing challenges, but somehow it just isn't any fun if I'm saying 'here lorraine, write a 100 word story based off the word 'caterpillar'. It's like, it is only a challenge when someone is waiting for me to send them my response. That I'm too lazy to want to write a romance blurb to the made up title "Tempting Secrets" even though the idea of doing a challenge like that thrills me. Why? Because I'm not the student or the teacher, I'm just...the one participant lol.

So, all that being said. Is there a place I can join online where you get writing challenges of all sorts and you have to submit your entry within a certain amount of time, or something similar like that? Not like you get judged on it or anything...but a deadline and a prompt that you didn't come up with. Do you know of anything remotely close to that? I know the Absolute Write Water Cooler has stuff like that, but do you know of anything else?

And if you know how many poems they wrote, please tell me that as well. I'm a poet myself, and I am curious to find out who holds this record. I'm not in a race or anything of the like; I simply like to know the facts, especially when it concerns my field of interest.

America was named after Amerigo
Columbus credited as the first European to discover the Americas.
Leif Ericson visited North America about 500 years before Columbus and the first Europen to land.
Christopher Columbus is given credit for discovering the New World, but was he really the first person to step foot in this new land. What about the Native Americas? What about Leif Ericson? Or what about Amerigo Vespucci?
