no, it is not. this appeals to wrong reasoning(ad vericundiam, not sure though if that's the right term). it is the same as saying, i won't study because you flunked your schooling, or, i hate your artwork because you did not like mine. the reason is due solely on the other person's action and not taking into consideration responsibility of the person who states such a statement.

No. Most people who say that are speaking out from the pain they feel or the anger they feel at themselves and at the person for the situation they're in. Just keep in mind this is a fragile moment they are in and so do not mean what they say. A more valid statement would be "I hate that loving you causes me this pain."

I think it is valid, even though it does sound childish. The way i look at it, you could have a child who knows that her mother does not love her and the child knows that a mother should love her child so this would create a level of resentment.

When the one who says it is a child, then you can attribute the hate to immaturity and selfishness. It cries out as a child would "Why dont you love me? " in response to the pain of rejection.

Unrequited love- has been written about through the ages.

If we are lucky, those we love will love us back.
Some of us are not lucky at all.

What do we tell ourselves when we are unlucky in love?
