It is neither...it just IS

Neither, and at the same time both. It is a word invented to describe some particular feeling between two humans...which has ended up with more meanings and descriptions than probably any other word.

The word itself is highly over rated, widely misused, and misunderstood. It can last a minute or a life time.

Let's picture the Animal Kingdom. There is no love in their minds. Yet some are monogamous where others are seasonal or cycled to propagate the species. You have males that eat their young and or share in the raising of the young. You have species where either the male or female will provide for and protect the young, and some that share the burden/pleasure. Teehee and a few species where the female eats/kills the male after fertilization. Yet they survive in the world unless We get in the way and interrupt their cycles of life.

We on the other hand, have to rationalize, manipulate, etc, etc our mates for some form of gain or another. A type of control must exist to sooth our social status, agendas, and what not...

Instead, of just relying on the instincts that our brains have evolved so far away from. Love is a continual natural work of art that can be sold/bought cheaply at the flea market, or paid for dearly and placed in a time vault to last a millennium. Either way it should just happen, with no limitations, expectations, or conclusion as to what it is.

Love is an investment and a charity. If you a love a person you need to devote your time and effort. One must cherish the moment of his time to a person. Your partner sees it as a basis of your love to her. You also share love to the needy by giving gifts as a show of affection. You can go to charity institution like the Charity of love who have no family to be with. Indeed it is a touching moment for a person to share his wealth. It is a manifestation of having a big heart to the needy.

Love should never be a charity (pity) nor an investment (convenience). It should be the enjoyment of each other's existence, and nothing more. Otherwise, it's not love.

I think love is an investment. The more time, care, tenderness, understanding and interest I invest in love, the more I am bound to reap rewards of love in return. Kind of like what you give is what you receive.

Investment? sometimes
Charity? sometimes.

These are the various types of love.

Food love, money love, comfort love, parental love, friend love, spouse love, shoes love, pet love.country love, God love,I-love-everything love.

Listed this way makes it much much easier to categorize them into bins. Right?

Investment- shoes love, clothes love, money love, comfort love

The rest is charity. Why? Faith is the belief that you will come into material blessings even when you cant see it coming or happening, Hope is a prayer that someone who has been blessed will share their material blessings with you, and charity --

Charity is your sharing of blessings that you have received, be it with your spouse, children, kin, country, friend , church or other creations of God. Was it love you felt when you gave? or was it charity. What is charity but a relection of love.

Actually, it's probably more of a wager.

You lay your heart on the line, place your bet and spin the Wheel of Life.

There is such a thing as making a good "calculated wager."

At least half of us in long-term relationships are winners...

Its a connection. Not everything is about cost/benefits. Looking at it this way shows you have too much of an individualistic ego to understand the true nature of love at this moment.
