I like to do writing challenges, but somehow it just isn't any fun if I'm saying 'here lorraine, write a 100 word story based off the word 'caterpillar'. It's like, it is only a challenge when someone is waiting for me to send them my response. That I'm too lazy to want to write a romance blurb to the made up title "Tempting Secrets" even though the idea of doing a challenge like that thrills me. Why? Because I'm not the student or the teacher, I'm just...the one participant lol.

So, all that being said. Is there a place I can join online where you get writing challenges of all sorts and you have to submit your entry within a certain amount of time, or something similar like that? Not like you get judged on it or anything...but a deadline and a prompt that you didn't come up with. Do you know of anything remotely close to that? I know the Absolute Write Water Cooler has stuff like that, but do you know of anything else?

Pax, from what I can see it is mostly just games and not a whole lot of challenges. There is the weekly story prompt and a couple of writing challenges through the pages...perhaps I haven't looked deep enough. I'll investigate further :) And sure, give me a prompt ^_^

The Games and Prompts section at Absolute Write used to be great. I haven't been there in a long while though. Has it changed? Want a prompt? I would be happy to give you one. I just posted one for someone else. Pax - C

Man, I think AW has changed a lot since Mac took over - sadly.

I often do this with students. It has often been said a picture is worth a thousand words. Here is the picture. Give me the thousand words.

You can send it to me if you would like. Anybody else want a picture?? Just post a question and I will give you one.
