Where and when?

I'd like to go to the mid-west of USA in the pioneering days, when a chap could just find a bit of land he liked and build a house on it.

What I mean is this: imagine a person/people who were happy with their lives and state of the world. They harbour very little of the negative human emotions, such as avarice, envy, hatred, contempt, dissatisfaction, hopelessness, a feeling of disadvantage, mean-spiritedness, etc, etc. They have profound joy and optimism in human existence. What sort of political ideology and social outlook would they choose? What would its content, underlying spirit, and world-view be? And Why?

...everybody just what you found...When you save yourself, you save the world, and you know you can do "That," girl...Everything ends in the mirror, but window minds see much clearer...In the end it's all the same, spiral staircase with a broken chain, Heaven is a brand new car, and only that will take you far, so...(repeat chorus)...over-colorize everything, live for the night and feel the sting, wade down deep, cliff-dive the shallows, and melt away your plastic halo, 'cause what's inside is Not what counts, your soul's a check that's gonna bounce, live for today, death for tomorrow, Be the ethics and f*** the morals, break the program, change the plan, more than angels, less than human, hear the hidden silent sound, lose the harmony, more is found, in the end it's all the same, spiral staircase and a broken chain, Heaven is a brand new car, and only That will take you far, so...? (repeat chorus...)

(this was a snippet of one of my songs...what do you think...?)

If you were to take up JK's mantle and carry on with Harry Potter where would you take the story? Would you start it from him being 17 still or would you continue from where she left off at 19 years later?

I have always wondered this, and have tried to find data to support this. Does religion, regardless of which one, make one a better, smarter person OR less likely to get into major problems in life?
And if so, is there one that teaches something that the other one doesn't that makes one more successful OR is everything based on a person's efforts regardless of race or religion?

Are those who are more religious going to be happier and more successful in life?

I'm always so disappointed when I pick up an art instruction book that promises to teach even the most non-artistic artist to draw well and see the shopping list. I own an ordinary HB pencil, and I don't really have the resources to own anything more.

Is it possible to do all that fancy shading without fancy pencils? If so, how do I shade like a pro with an HB pencil alone?

Please help! I've had enough of my paper doll portraits!

In Julius Caesar Shakespeare uses Caesar as a parellel to Queen Elizabeth.....they were both powerful rulers without heirs and what would happen if Elizabeth would die etc.......

Do any of Shakespeare's other plays have symbolism similar to this

Bearing in mind that I've never study poetry before could you tell me how would you compare and contrast two poems using terms such as Rhythm, form, meter, sound & communication. I've read Seven Centuries of Poetry in English by John Leonard p.567-586 assuming that it might help and was tough to understand. I am struggling to understand most of the poems I've read so far let along comparing/contrasting them.

I specially like to hear from someone who struggle like me but managed to overcome.

I am facinated by hearing the wonderful world of poetry and envy those who enjoy the blissfulness of poetry. I want to go there too but already tired without knowing where to turn.
