'Why' implies a need for understanding.

Sadly, few people are willing to use their intellect to explore the many 'whys' in life. Most of the time we just follow our emotions, failing to use our minds to question, to simply (yet critically) wonder 'why?'.

We see this avoidance or fear of 'why' so clearly in the political 'debate' arena. Everyone loves to express 'how they feel' about an issue, but very, very few can explain 'why' they feel that way. Ralph Waldo Emerson explained this best when he said the hardest thing for a person to do is to think. So, few think. Few ask 'why?'. Naturally, therefore, few have any level of understanding.
