I usually do. Sometimes a good answer exists and, therefore, I do not need to add anything to the discussion. I simply check it as a good answer.
Other times, existing answers may modify or even clarify my thinking, thus improving my answer.
And, sadly, in the technical realm where I give many answers (science and health), often existing answers are just plain wrong. Knowing about these inaccurate answers, I can address them in my answer.

I sometimes read them and sometimes not, depending on the question. If it's like "Do u like MCR?" Then I'll just go answer spontaneously. If it's something like "what do think is the most important thing in ur personality that everyone person must have to be considered humane?" then I'd read the other answers first, this helps provide knowledge. You get a better and bigger and wider view in life, which u;ve never realised before and u somewhat collect wisdom and experience which is only supposed to come by age.

I answer before I read other answers because I think that's the best way to give the question asker the "purest" answers. It's hard not to be influenced in some way by what you read - and you end up answering the other people who answered rather than answering the asker. Whew! That's almost alliteration. *s*

I read answers sometimes and sometimes I do not.
I think it has to do with whether I have a firm understanding of what I want to say or not. Many questions need interpretation. I use the other answers to determine what interpretation of the question is NOT being answered and I try to answer that question.

Usually I will read what others have said to see if my answer coincides with another. If mine does not go along with any posted, I will give my answer.

I usually do so I don't just repeat someone else. Unless I have a very strong opinion on something and need to get it out.

I usually skim through them, but I already have my own answer and it's only out of curiosity.
