I love to write but I'm pretty young to be a "writer" (13) - how do I get there? I could post some examples of my stories...the one problem is I'm sort of shy about the whole thing, my parents don't even know that I've worked on several stories for a couple years. I don't know how exactly I got hooked into this, but since I was about 8 I feel in love with writing. If I am shy about people reading my stuff, how can I become a real writer some day if that is my path?

In this world you tried
Not leaving me alone behind
There's no other way
I'll pray to the gods let him stay
The memories ease the pain inside,
Now I know why

All of my memories keep you near
In silent moments
Imagine you'd be here.
All of my memories keep you near,
Your silent whispers, silent tears

Made me promise I'd try
To find my way back in this life
I hope there is a way
To give me a sign you're okay
Reminds me again it's worth it all
So I can go home

All of my memories keep you near
In silent moments
Imagine you'd be here
All of my memories keep you near
Your silent whispers, silent tears

Together in all these memories
I see your smile
All of the memories I hold dear
Darling, you know I'll love you
till the end of time

All of my memories keep you near
In silent moments,
Imagine you'd be here
All of my memories keep you near,
Your silent whispers, silent tears

All of my memories...

The term Victorian, Edwardian, Georgian etc are all as most of us know named after the ruling monarch of that time. I was just wondering does the rest of the world go by these terms also and if not how would I explain the Victorian era to someone else who doesn't use it?

OK, nobody seems to exactly know this, and I'm hoping you guys do. Is the CONTENT of the kids versions of the Harry Potter books any different to those of the grown-up versions, or is it just that the grown-up versions have "serious" covers and different typefaces? Thanks folks.

Well, I love poetry with deep meaning, and usually I like it better if it rhymes, but then there are some people who don't like when poetry rhymes, since most good poems don't. Is there a certain way to write poems, or does it really all just come down to a bunch of phrases...with meaning, of course. I just....don't really get how you write a poem.

I have an essay about whether the Texans were justified on revolting against Mexico in 1836. However, the book does not go into detail about this issue, and my teacher has not gone over it. Could you please give me your opinion to this question so I can get a further understanding on both sides of the argument? Thank you so much.

Please don’t look down on us
Because we are young
Don’t complain about the clothes we wear
Or about the songs we’ve sung
We’re just trying to figure out what we don’t understand
And in truth, that’s quite a lot
You hope we are walking the path that you did
And we desperately pray that we’re not
We grew up wanting to be like you
But now we’re not so sure
For your generation has caused all the problems that ours will have to cure
You will never see us crying
Though we sometimes wish you could
We used to hate it when you said, “I love you.”
But now we wish you would
And now our world is scary
Goodbye sweet “ignorance is bliss”
When all the problems in our world could be solved by mother’s kiss
We don’t want to be what society calls us
A punk, a jock, a nerd
But we’re just too afraid to tear down our walls and abandon our own little herd
We look at the pictures in the albums
And we know you love us dearly
But somehow it seems, no matter how hard you try

I am reading "I Capture the Castle" by Dodie Smith and I'm really enjoying it. I was wondering if anyone can recommend any other books with a kind of similar style? I like mostly fiction or historical fiction so any suggestions would be great! Thanks!
