Sorta simple, what happens is that they slowly start to get insane unable to realize the reality of this world. The cut themselfves off from the realistics only to dream and dream of their perfect world. When they start realizing that this dream world is just fake and nothing ever happened they start going slowly into a deep depression and sometimes they can hardly come out so some of them kill themselves because they think that if they die they will be able to return to their dream world forever..

You are living in a dream world right now. You are unable to experience anything directly. You only experience through the use of memory. As you read this sentence you are not aware of the actual 'sensing' of the reflected light off of the object called 'screen' but only the translation of the object into your knowledge. You are continually recalling and recognizing everything around you one moment behind the actual event. You are only reliving the event through memory.
Is this not living in a dream world?

They lose contact with reality. As the dream world is preferable to the real world they will, over time, become lost in their head. Always thinking. They will always be imagining something other than what exists. In some cases, they even appear to have symptoms of mental health as their behaviour and interactions lose the social quality.

This material world is called Maya (illusion) it is temporary and full of misery. We are all eternal spirit souls We are not this material body, though we identify with it due to illusion. We are in a waking dream. Those who are becoming awake take up the process of self realization (Bhakti yoga) and realize their eternal true highest self. They give up this bodily Concepcion of life and chant the Maha Mantra (the great mantra for deliverance from all suffering and illusion. Then at the end of life they return to the eternal blissful kingdom where their is no more repeated birth, death, old age or disease. For information on this sublime process of Bhakti go to harekrishnatemple.com Read Bhagavad Gita as it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada asitis.com you can read it on line. Those who continue to live in this dream world come back life after life depending on their consciousness (karma and desires) at the time of death. You can stop this miserable cycle of repeated birth, death, old age and disease by This Bhakti Process. I am.

A dream world, as someone with sleeping sickness?
Or, a daydreaming world, as most Americans do, never wanting to face reality?
If the latter, most of them become discouraged, disenchanted, etc., and either shape up or ship out.

you become insane, or you suffer depression, because when you live in a dream world its a world made to your wishes. In real life, the real world isn't like that. So you'll end up hating your life or going insane.

merely like in lucid dreaming, once you seem down at your arms, and notice you're in a dream, once you notice this worldwide is likewise a dream, you notice the actual nature of issues...that we create this certainty as certainly as we create our aims, however we don't be conscious of how...for now, merely row your boat gently down the flow, merrily, existence is yet a dream...are super words of understanding!
