My 14 year old cousin really likes to read, which is great. The problem is, her genre choice is Christian teen fiction, which sounds like a load of crap. Its great that she's learning values that she feels are important, but it seems like her reading is exclusive to this genre. She also reads Harry Potter, so thankfully has heard some good stories, but this still leaves the problem of being unexposed to good writing, if that makes sense. She is a very smart girl, in all advanced classes, so can anyone reccomend a book that will be entertaining like HP, but perhaps better written. Something that is engrossing but presents more of a challenge for her, I guess is what I am looking for. She is about to start reading Eragon, which is in my opinion one of the worst books ever written. I'd really like to be able to reccommend something better for her to read. Obviously, it needs to be relativley "clean". Sorry if this doesn't make much sense, but I'm really busy right now. :)

Does anybody know if The Noble Collection store -you know, the one on the internet, and i think they have a catalog- is a real store where you can walk in and look at stuff? Or is it just a catalog and site? If so, where is it located?

I have a small teaset with handpainted scenes of redroofed houses around a lake with trees. It is gold rimmed and the gold is used to decorate the spout and handles.

The mark is also in gold on the bottom and is a globe with a banner through the middle saying English and there is a winged lady/angel sitting on the globe holding a pennant with a St George? cross in it.

Along the bottom of the mark it says Best Bone China.

On one of the pieces 1931 is ornately written in in gold, it looks like the same gold used to decorate the piece. Some other pieces have the letter k written in gold on the base.

i have a thought i'd like to share. bear with me here.
we all know there are 3 dimensions x y & z or width hieght and depth. but what about size? could size itself be a 4rth dimension...
You may remember a plastic model in school of a molicule. it has a nucleus and electrons that fly around it. now think about the model of our universe. hmm looks the same with suns and planets.... could it be? is our universe a small part of something much bigger, a whole other life happening in a larger size?
think about it..... am i crazy...... people said Eistien was nuts..

I have read all the books and I can not wait until the seventh (and hopefully not the final) book comes out. I was just wondering what other Harry Potter books are out there that you might reccomend that are not written by Rowling herself. Thank you.

Tell me what you think of this poem.

When tonic is poured

and you cannot drink

though law allows

for intoxication

then,

life is empty.

If your eyes are wide with anticipation

for the taste,

the first taste

of social lubrication

yet,

you do not indulge

then,

life is empty.

21 is gone and soon

22

and I have yet to drink as if

I were celebrating

freedom,

that's when you realize

life is empty.

So open my mouth

lick my lips

and feel the burn of satisfaction

as glossy eyes squint

and bumbling feet stumble me home

then I will know

life

is not empty.

"I wish the sky would rain down roses. . . They would fall as light as feathers, smelling sweet; and it would be like sleeping and like waking all at once." - George Eliot

I came across this beautiful qoute. I'm not much of a fan of roses, so for me it would be sunflowers and lillies.

As for me : When I was 12, the day before my grandmother died, she asked me to tumble on the sidewalk for her, so she could see what I could do... She called (literally) all the neighbors on the street, and had them come out and watch me too.... She was really happy... :)

So, how about you???

Thanks, for answering in advance! :-)

*have a wonderful day/night*.. or at least try... :)

I need to read a biography of a famous American for a high school History class. The person needs to be an influential and prominent leader, not a pop star. I'd like a book thats a relatively quick and easy read but still acceptable for an AP class. If anyone can recommend one that I could buy at Border's or something that would be great

While thousands beg J.K. Rowling to save the boy wizard in the last book in the series, I say kill him off. It would serve as a wonderful opportunity for children to learn about death and dying in a safe, fictional environment.

Besides, Harry's a tool anyway.

Thoughts?

Slavery was legal in most of the states at the time. What was the reasoning that prohibited the institution in the country’s only territories?

I want to make a craft sculpture for my friend but don't have the money to buy clay. Preferably I'd like to be able to control its drying, but if not that is ok too. Thanks in advance.
