I was rather amused by the 'Smoking Man's version of that from the X-Files:
"Life is like a box of chocolates:
"A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable -- because all you get back is another box of chocolates. You're stuck with this undefinable whipped-mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there's nothing else left to eat.
"Sure, once in a while, there's a peanut butter cup. An English toffee. But they're gone too fast, the taste is fleeting.
"So you end up with nothing but broken bits, filled with hardened jelly and teeth-shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those, all you've got left... is an empty box... filled with useless, brown paper wrappers."

Ah! I'm so incredibly glad to find out that I'm not the only one who ends up with chocolate (or real things...) that taste like dirt! No matter the size of the chocolate box, the variety, or the brand, my finger always drifts to the nastiest one. Same with life...I guess that you can never know the crap-content of something until it happens, or until you try it...
It should be one of the seven wonders.

Next time, when you see the chocolate that you want--DON'T pick that one. When you see the one that you don't want--PICK IT! That is kinda what I do in life sometimes. I always pick the crappy stuff, too. (only, I have never tasted a chocolate that was crappy. I think I could maybe actually eat crap if it was covered in chocolate. Well, maybe not REALLY, but you know what I mean).......recovering chocoholic.

if you are telling the truth and always pick the one that tastes like crap then you would have no idea of what the others could possibly taste like since you only have the taste of crap and nothing to compare it to. how many did you pick?

Someone has to pick the crappy ones. If only Al Gore had been elected president, we could have passed a law outlawing crappy chocolates or at least forced rich people to eat more crappy ones while the middle class could have just the yummy ones. The poor of course would get nothing but free yummy chocolates.

Because you need more experience in chocolate boxes. Hopefully we'll all learn and pick the good chocolate.

Better Question to answer your question...
If life is full of questions why don't you ever ask the right one.
Instead ask, why am I not making an effort to make myself better, and start picking the chocolates with peanut Butter.
