Given that most faiths espouse deities that espouse no other deities other than those that they uniquely claim--in other words, that the beliefs of most faiths are exclusive to the beliefs of most other faiths--what substantiates one faith over another? A Muslim God where there is only one God, and a Greek god where there are no other gods but the traditional Greek, are faiths that cannot be SIMULTANEOUSLY true in the same universe (and yes, there is only one UNIverse). What's the deal? I await your knee-jerk reactions, but more happily await reasoned discussion.

My friend and I roleplay over emails and IM but we cannot think of any new themes, plots, or ideas to try out. We like medieval/fantasy role-playing. If anyone has any good plots or themes please share them. ^_^

Well, I am looking for someone to help me out with finding a good southern novel. One based in the south, rather old fashioned is nice but can be modern too. I love the Ann Rice series but have read them all. I have also read Fox's Earth by Anne Rivers Siddons if you know what I'm talking about. I love the sleepy southern town settings, african american influence, and the mystery(love, murder, betrayal) of the south. Also the architechture and everything, think New Orleans. Any good fiction or non-fiction books that have all or alot of these qualities?

The point is that philosophers/rhetors are known for their amazing wit and their prowess in the area of language. At a time when no one else had any opportunity to an education they composed timeless works that have formed the foundation for knowledge. Philosophers were the ones who paved the way for every other discipline there is today. Their sweet words, used as an art, are arranged in such a way that convinces readers especially in matters that humans, for the most part, thought fascinating such as life after death, as most people want to believe that they will live forever. Therefore, how can we tell what to believe and what not to believe?

Purpose is a construct of intelligent agents. It means the role a component has apart of a system (of what ever size) to help achieve the goals within the system. The ultimate goal of life is to survive without any possiblity of death. Thus the purpose of life is to exist and so it serves itself. Why do people assume that the universe has a purpose, why can people not get there head around the idea of something simply existing as a product of purposeless mathematically based physical laws?

I stay home all of the time, I'm alone a lot (I don't hate being around people, but I think being alone is easier for me), I'm constantly asking myself why I am this way. I consider myself to be a happy person, a funny person, and interesting, crazy person. And it only comes out once in a while, when i'm with my good friend and otherwise crazy cousin. I don't understand it, but when I'm with other people, I become concious of myself, I become boring, nervous and all. I'm a confident person, I don't worry too much of what other people think, but I do want people to like me. A lot.

Is it just a sudden loss of energy? Am I not really this person I think I am? ♥

Atom smashing by Penfoldius Gobers

We split the atom with mighty whacks
until all that’s left are the cracks in the cracks
Into these I climb to walk the line
between voodoo and quantum mechanics

Splitting the atom is a messy affair
so we leave it to someone with sandals and long hair
Who thinks of phase and spin and cosmic string
Of parralell dimensions accessible by wheelchair

Heisenberg Bohr, Planck and Dirac
These are the sorcerers of the new era
Who have seen further
Who have swum deeper

Schrodinger thought that he`d put his cat
into a box with a gun to its head
but its not dead or alive at this junction
We await the collapse of the wave function

We split the atom with mighty whacks
until all that’s left are the cracks in the cracks
Into these I climb to walk the line
between voodoo and quantum mechanics
