Sonya Hartnett has written some excellent YA books. I like how her books don't always have the typical "happy ever after" endings that most YA books have. Her stories are strong, ring true to life and her characters stay with you a long time after you've finished one of her books. Some of her books are:
Sleeping Dogs
Wilful Blue
Surrender
What the Birds See
Thursday's Child
The above are all good but my fave is Sleeping Dogs. It's about a family (mother, father, five children) who run a caravan park in rural Australia. An artist comes to stay at their park and finds them interesting and mysterious. He sets out to discover their secret and does so, to a shocking conclusion. I highly highly recommend it.
Good luck and happy reading! :-)

Go to Amazon.com and search:
"Lost from Atlantis Book 1" - Book 2 is going to be out in the next 6 weeks or so, Book 3 is written and in editing and will be out sometime in the next few months.
"Death by MURDER David Lindsay" - you have to search that way or it won't come up. There's lots of sex in that one.
"Super Spaghetti"
And the best part is, for now, they're all FREE. You can read them with Kindle Unlimited - if you don't have Kindle Unlimited Google how to get a free trial, and all those books are free. They can be read online, with a free Kindle phone app, or on a Kindle.

Sarah Dessen books are cheesy and dull, I'd stay away from them if you want something intriguing. Stephanie Meyer is good, but a little predictable and unrealistic. I can say this, having read multiple works by each.
However, John Green is phenomenal. His "Looking for Alaska" will blow your mind.

It's a romance about a human girl (bella) who falls deeply in love with a really hot and sexy vampire (edward). it tells about how they met and their relationship. I LOVE it and i HATE romance books!( except these ones!)
