It's just a big guess. We don't know. I know you're seeking the answers right now but the real answer is I don't know. Perhaps you should ask yourself why is it so important to have an answer. If that's not good enough, go to school become a physicist. I hope you find out and if you do then let me know, because as much as I wonder myself I'm not filled with a burning desire or a need to find out.

Lots of hydrogen atoms. The universe is probably finite, but I could be wrong. A Swiss team has noted the existence of a planet -- Gliese 581c -- that might be able to support earth-like life. It is only 80-some star systems away.
You are asking some of the questions that will dominate both philosophical and scientific studies in the foreseeable future. Okay, not specifically as you put them but generally so. A good starting point for you might be Stephen Hawking's "A Brief History of Time -- From the Big Bang to Black Holes."
If you get some clear answers, please let me know.

What's out in space? Matter, or the lack thereof, if that's possible, because it's really hard to imagine matter going on infinitely, since inifinite is only a concept. But I'm rambling. Really, it's just what we believe. And what you said about it ending...I don't think it ends, since the concept of a universe encompasses all existing things. Unless you consider something non-existing? But what can that be like?...I'm sorry, I'm answering with more questions. But there.

There used to be a science fiction theory about another planet just like ours but circling the sun in total opposition. It would always be out of our sight and we would be always out of its sight. NASA missions have proven this to be impossible, but stranger ideas have been proven true.
I don't doubt that if we knew what to look for we would find it. I suspect we just haven't asked the right questions yet.
Most of us are taught that solving problems is our highest calling. Scientist can tell us the maximum speed we can travel and the extent of the universe but we will always wonder if there isn't more.

I often ponder this also... Think about it: There's probably an alternate dimension out there somewhere... I like to think of the universe as mirrors facing eachother. When you look into one, you see yourself going on and on and on... I think that while the universe is insanely large, it might be possible that some of it is exactly repeating, or maybe an illusion. The possibilities are endless!!!

i belive there are different realms of time-like a circle with layers that spin in opposite directions. i believe space is out there, but in the event of a black hole...i like to think the time shifts. maybe one hole is a living time from 200 years ago, maybe another from the future. kind of like a time warp-like when some times a person who dies violently stays stuck in the warp, repeating the event over and over as it was in life. but on the other hand, if you believe in reincarnation, those "layers" may represent different periods of our lives. i dont know, but its something to think about instead of life or death.
