I read an article by Jay Gould against an intelligent designer, claiming that there were ineffective evolutionary producets, and that if there was an intelligent designer there wouldn't have been these ineffective parts of nature. He sited the fact that a Panda's Thumb is not actually a thumb, that and how flowers reproduce isn't effective either, though it's not particularly important to know that for my question.

I need to counter argue this point with a view on Creationism that would go against his view. Any ideas and suggestions?

What are some of your successful strategies for writer's block, aside from the obvious, which is sitting down and writing.

Do you have any tried and true methods that you're willing to share?

Everything in the world is a product of conditions that take place on a temporal plane. And time eventually busts up everything. Now,it would seem time is really pretty much all everything consists of - all material mass or energy existing only within a given time horizon. But hey - time has no actual physicality. You can't see it,touch it,taste it,take a picture of it or even snot it off. Does anybody actually know what this stuff is? Another thing : people make such a big deal about not being able to see God,but they accept time without seeing it...and another thing...and another point...which reminds me of something else...wait a second, don't go - this is fun,you can cheat easy as anything by folding multiple questions into "one" - which makes me think of something else, too, now that I think of it - whatever it was...oh...I forget.
I'm having a strange evening.

Science has improved the quality of life for humans, now science wants humans to improve the quality of the planet. Nature made us and nature can destroy us. There is an asteriod that might hit us in about 25 years. Why should I listen to science when it has improved my life by helping destroy it via it's discoveries.

Wonder is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as "the emotion excited by the perception of something novel and unexpected. It includes astonishment mingled with perplexity or bewildered curiosity." It prompts us to consider how particularly vivid displays of vitality, beauty, or power might reveal a purpose or intentionality of the universe as a whole.

I’m posing this question half in jest, but also half seriously. The Norman Conquest in 1066 is something that I’ve heard is still a touchy subject today among more conservative Britons, and Britain has been an ancient enemy of France for centuries, even up until the beginning of the 20th century. So with all of the British attempts to control France, from the Hundred Years War up until George III finally removed his claim of being “King of France” from his title in 1800, it seems unlikely, but not necessarily absurd that there were some people in Britain after D-Day who would have seriously thought of keeping Normandy for Britain after the end of WWII. So was there actually any serious thought given to it by members of the British government, or the public at large?
