Once a horse is no longer of any use as a beast of burden, people get upset if the horse is butchered for food for either dogs or humans. Yet we have absolutely no qualms about exploiting cows for everything they have, even so far as to mount their skulls on our walls as decorations. Why don't we like using horses for meat when horses and cows are almost the same animal (in terms of their contribution to human society)?

I have been doing ballet off and on my whole life. Ballet is my passion and I dance en pointe. I am fairly good, but I don't do it to be the absolute best. I do it because I love it. As much as I love it, I am not interested in going into a professional company. When I go to college (in 2 years) I would love to dance for the college, but can you dance in college without pursuing a degree in ballet? People have told me that it depends on the college and I know this, but in general do they require you to major in ballet to dance with them? I want ballet to be a part of my life for as long as possible!

I'm an amateur photographer and I've recently been interested in doing countryside and rural photos, mostly of doing some barns. Does anyone have any tips to get the best out of these areas to shoot, whether it is in black and white or in color? Thanks!

PS I use a Nikon N65 if it matters :)

I am moving to LA to further my career as an actor (Please Note: I am not one of these who is going there to become a 'star' after only a few years or summat, I am serious). I am a little worried that my British accent will be a problem from an industry point of view. Do you think that will hold me back at all?

You know these days kids claim they are in "love". They all want that fairy tale story and happy ending and see a cute guy interested in them and BAM "OMG ITS LOVE". That happens a lot these days doesn't it? No wonder adults doubt young love. It does exist. Happens; but rarely last forever.
The saying "you don't know what love is" "you don't know what you want""its not real love, its puppy love" etc.
Love is a strong emotion and people say its so strong it could practically move mountains if it could. And with love anything is possible. Love, there is no thinking whether someone loves whomever or no. You just know. Which is why the feeling is undescribable. When its real; you refuse to let go. You keep trying and hoping, you have faith. Regardless of the other person's bad you still see the good. Even if the world thinks you're crazy or says no. You don't give up. As much as it seems impossible it isn't. Pain; just because someone doesn't love you or feel the same way isn't their fault

I know that women during the second world war did serve in the military on a limited scale (WACs). Their duties were limited to clerical work and, of course, espionage. But were they given ranks? Were there women privates? Corporals? Sergeants?

I think the rebellious 1960s with its beatniks, Beatles, anti-war protests and long hair was really a product of the 1950s, and late forties. Just when World War II was over. And the Cold War was starting with Russia, The young grew cynical with the nuclear weapons, first generation with tv, McCarthy's repressions and fifties "conformity", as a result of 1930s Depression and World War II. What do you think, people?

On Weds. I have to begin this in class except I want to go ahead with this assignment. I dont even know how to begin.
This is what it is:

TASK
Your task is to sit in the Oval Office, in the chair of President Truman. Now that Germany and Italy have surrendered and the War in Europe is over, your political and military advisors are urging you to end the War in the Pacific quickly by using the newly developed atomic bomb.

Weighing the costs of both an invasion of Japan and dropping the atomic bomb, you, America’s president, must decide what is ultimately the best decision for the United States and its future. Support that decision by writing a speech to the American people.

THE PROCESS

1. the reasons for the Presidents decision,
2. the predicted outcomes surrounding the only other option,
3. the immediate and long term impact the ultimate decision had upon Japan, the U.S. & the world.

I dont even know where to begin. Can someone break it down & help me?
