It is better to be unwise and happy.. Unfortunately you don't get a choice. You can't just shut it off.

I feel the same as you. There's a quote from someone that said "I've never met an intelligent person who was happy." It is true because intelligent people know and are aware of too much so they become cynical. In the end though, it is probably far better to be somewhat unhappy but intelligent because in the long run if you "shut off" and don't take in your surroundings and learn you're going to get taken adavantage of anyways and be unhappy that way so by being intelligent nand unhappy at least you won't be "dooped" in life and can maybe learn to deal with and accept the world as it is and make the best of it for what it is instead of dwelling on how bad it is and could be better. That's so creepy, I sound really optimistic =/, good luck though =]

you want the truth, you are not wise enough that's why your are not happy. if you were then you would think that there is a Price to pay for everything. true, wise people do tend to be lonely at time, but at least they are respected more and in time if they are wise enough, they will figure out a way to be happy, say by inventing something or surly they will get good grades from education and get good jobs and in time will find themselves not only respected more but also are able to do whatever they want to do. i am not sure why you are not happy but i assure you every one will eventually get their turn to be happy and ever happy man or woman will eventually pay the Price for being unaware of certain things which they had missed because they were too busy having fun. in time things will work out if you keep trying.

do you know why they call lions king of the jungle, its not because they can take on any animal, in fact they are not much more dangerous than Hyenas. the reason they call them kings is because they have a Dauntless courage, they never give up no matter how hard a situation gets, they can take on a pack of Hyenas when they are hungry enough. that's what also the lion represents, if you see a picture of a lion on any flag of a nation it represents Dauntless courage.

you are not wise, you are in a way forced to think or be one. maybe by your family or you surrounding. wise people choose to be so and the fact that they are wise is a reward it self to them.

It is better to be wise and unhappy. Unhappiness is the recognition that something is wrong, and something needs to be changed, and then you can start working on a solution. However, don't try to take it all in at once. Find a couple of issues that you are most concerned about and concentrate on those. You are only one person, and if you try to take it all in you will become overwhelmed.

Being happy usually comes from some happening or person and it comes and goes quite swiftly. Being wise is something that is interior and no one can change it except you. Wisdom makes you free, but not necessarily popular with all the other people. You can be happy as it comes and goes if you recognize that's the nature of happiness. And you can bear what makes you unhappy be knowing it will change in due time as well.

Good question, sometimes ignorance is bliss.

Consider the Jesus freaks, evangelicals and other deeply religious folks, all have reverted to that primitive limbic systems of our brains, the place where our deepest emotions reside. The 'born-again' Christian phenomena has a scientific basis. When people are in deep despair, near death, nearly starved, or other highly emotional states, the 'religious experience' is triggered. Hormones, dopamine receptors and other chemical reactions take place...all good for the body. They help to fight diseases, etc. It was a survival mechanism our bodies have developed since the days of our primitive barbarian ancestors.

Those that know the truth however, ie Objective Reality, are not allowing themselves the body's defensive mechanizm that has evolved over time. The closest they (we) can come is to believe in the 'power of positive thinking' which is the closest to religion (use of the limbic system of our brains) that we atheists can get.

I've chosen Objective Reality, even knowing that a delusional worldview could be beneficial to my health and body....go figure.

You can be wise and happy! I know all to well about horrible things that happen in this world but I take joy in doing my part to make the world a better place. I help feed the hungry, I testify to the lost, I give hope to the discouraged. I do my best to be a good person; to be a beacon of light in a dark world. If you open yourself to opportunity there are many ways you can use your wisdom to make the world better and in turn make yourself happier. It's a great feeling to help somebody.

Couldn't you be wise and happy.
Accept that which you cannot change, and be wise enough and strong enough to change that which you can.

The world can suck but it also has its beauty. And there are some things that I can change. That whole bit about better to light one small candle than curse the darkness... it's true. You can accept the crap instead of ignoring it. And you can choose to look at the beauty of life too. It's there.

Peace

I guess closed minded people can be happy too. After all, Confusion always says, "he who closes mind, is closed minded." So if you think it's wise for you to close your mind to be happy? Then you will be right back where you started, pursuing happiness once again.
