The Glass Castle. True story, absoloutely fascinating ....about 4 kids growing up with parents who were alcoholic and crazy and how the kids helped each other grow up despite the abject poverty, craziness, and nomad lifestyle the permeated thier upbringing. It will make you cry, shake your head, even smile occasionally. Most of all it is about the strength of the human spirit.....and about how people simply do choose their life.

I just finished (and loved) "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West" by Greggory Maguire.
I loved it because the author took a story that we all know and love and added so much depth to the characters of the witches. Literally, I'll never be able to look at "The Wizard of Oz" in the same way again. There's a lot of political intrigue and things like that, which might not interest some people, but I thought it was fabulous and incredibly brave of the author to take on a project that so many people worldwide know so well.

The best book I read this year is Hex. It's a science fiction book about a girl named Raven and her brother Wraith. Raven is a hex, which is a person who carries a mutated gene called the Hex gene. It's an amazing book and I highly recommend you check it out. The author's last name is Lassiter.

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. It is a totally engrossing thriller about the obsession with Vlad the Impaler, otherwise known as Dracula. The approach is original. The language and historical detail is enthralling.

The best book that I have read so far this year was probably "Stargirl." I njoyed this book becuase it made
me visualize alot. I read the whole book in about 2.1/2 days.
I thought it was a charming book, with a somewhat entertaining plot.
I hope you find a good book to read.
