This may not be the answer you want, but I tend to speak my mind (without using Wikipedia).

I am a Freemason of the esoteric sort, American Co-Masonry. Just so the other contributers know, Co-Masonry accepts into its ranks WOMEN and men, of all races, of all religions. You do have to believe in a Supreme Being, be tolerant of faiths and races not your own, not be a convicted felon, be at least 21 years of age. We are hardly the all-White, fat frat, demon-worshipping powerbrokers some think we are.

Freemasonry aims to make this world a better place for all to live by improving ourselves. Faith without deeds is dead, someone I think said. We take care not just of our own but all we can that are in need. Our charitable donations go toward food programs for the poor, recovery half-way houses, women's shelters. The Shriners (all masculine rite Master Masons) have burn and crippled childrens' hospitals where no child is refused treatment. Hardly a just taking care of Brothers only group.

Our numbers, at least in Co-Masonry, are growing slowly. We do not have a Lodge in every town. I admit that the "me first" generation has lessened the interest in service organizations. However, Co-Masonry is not just about service, we are alchemists bent upon changing the lead in our hearts to gold. People long for a place where ideals are not scoffed at, loyalty and honor are respected. Co-Masonry offers that. Our membership seems to be swelling in the 23-40 year old bracket.

Dangerous? Perhaps to tyrants who do not value liberty and equality. Certainly we do our best to be the last bastions of order and decency.

If you can do better, I urge you to. Get away from your computer and go out and feed the hungry, clothe the ragged, help the children. We do.

The Free masons, gathering of masons and other professions, were a group that go together to discuss how to make the world a better place.

Of course, people who had strong interests in making the world a dangerous and bad place (such as conservatives), hated the free masons.

Free masons have been denounced as witches, rejects, social misfits and communists for years by the real misfits and morons of the world ie conservatives.

Live and Let live.

i don't believe of so. in the adventure that they are controlling the international like extremely some human beings imagine they're, they seem doing a strong interest of it. If there are some dodgy deals being made, then i assume which will be seen a shame, yet on the top of the day, I awoke in my mattress this morning, risk-free and sound, with birds tweating. My sisters have a strong, loose practise, and if everybody i comprehend ought to fall sick there's a strong healthcare service to guard them. So if the Masons are controlling the international, a minimum of they're preserving it spinning!

No, in fact, they hardly have any power left. No one is joining these societies anymore. Freemasons have nothing to do with Skull & Bones (which is a club at Yale Univ.).

They don't hurt anybody, they just protect each other and help a brother out when a brother needs help. You watch too much Sanford and Son : )
