This is a tough question because it depends on what you believe. If you are of a Christian type faith then the Bible condemns the practice because it is not natural (not balanced). Many people who are straight do not understand it and think that the acts committed by homosexuals are strange and repulsive and that is why they condemn it. Let me point out though that there are straight people who commit strange and repulsive acts as well. A person who is trying to decide if they want to be gay or not needs to look within him/herself and decide if he/she can be at peace with him/herself or not.

Most likely one person who wasn't and felt disgusted at that time. And then the people around that person were like: "Yeah!" and stuff.

It started the same way as other taboos started, someone disliked something and then other people either disliked something too or went along with it to feel like they belong.

This is very hard to pin down to one people since that the first thinker is probably way dead. It just is carried down by the closed minded, conservative idiots of the world.

I suspect this person lived their life in a great deal of constant fear. It was probably Pope Gregory or someone similar who took literary liberties with certain books in the bible and spun them to their personal political agenda for one reason or another. They were probably much like the "Big Brother" of their time with the idea that if you could manipulate the people to behave with certain guidelines always fearing the worst (hell, damnation, jail, ridicule) then it would be easier to control them and have a more orderly society (according to their standards, that is).

I read a story in seventeen magazine, about a boy who was gay but wanted to be straight, he went to his priest and parents and they tried to basically "Un-gay" him. Nothing worked and he excepted it. The bible was not written by god himself but by humans and there are so many bibles out there, which one are you to believe? Most animals are homosexual, so why do people have a hard time understanding when people are gay. All I'm saying is if your gay or whatever its not something you chose it just happens.

God condemns homosexuality. 1 Corinthians 6:9,10 NIV says "Do you know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." This is one of many passages that references homosexuality as being wrong, bad, and sinful.

Some homophobe.

Love is love. Do what makes you happy as long as no one is getting hurt. It makes no difference to me if two men love each other or two women or a man & woman. Everyone deserves love. It's hatred that's wrong. Love is always right.

Many who say that homosexuality is wrong base their opinion on the belief that the purpose of life is to create new life, by breeding with the opposite sex.

Being homosexual is only as wrong as it is for anyone to not have children.

The majority.

It is a sad fact that whether one thing is right or wrong, if the majority decides it's wrong, then everyone jumps into the bandwagon.

Each to his/her own, I say.

(But then during the election cycle, they try to get the Log Cabin Republicans to contribute money, effort and votes.)

About every major civilization that ever inhabited the planet.

I'm not saying they're correct, just answering your question.

Oddly, more civilizations in history have condemned homosexuality than have condemned slavery.
