Benjamin Franklin was older than any of the other famous "founding fathers." George Washington was the unanimous choice for the first president of the United States. Benjamin franklin was allready very old and feeble by the time there WAS a United States of America, and a President. He did not live to see the end of Washington's presidency.
That is why it would have been impossilbe for him to be president, unless he had been chosen as the first.

Where on earth did you hear this incredible rubbish. Benjamin Franklin died in 1790. George Washington (the 1st President) had barely been in office a year by that time. How on earth could anyone say Franklin was the 3rd President???

First of all, Thomas Jefferson was the 3rd President and served from 1801-1809. Benjamin Franklin was never President and he was dead by 1790.

No. Thomas Jefferson was the third President of the United States. In fact, he was never President. Franklin did some important things, but he was not the third President of the United States.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Benjamin Franklin was never president despite all he did for the revolution, the founding of our country and, yes, his appearence on the hundred dollar bill.

Benjamin Franklin was never president. He is the only man pictured on any US currency who never was. He was a drunk, a womanizer, and not too bright. How he made the cut no one will ever know.
Corrections: 3 men pictured on U.S. currencies were never president. Franklin ($100) was Ambassador to France among other things. Hamilton ($10) was Secretary of the Treasury. Salmon P. Chase ($10,000) was Secretary of the Treasury and later Chief Justice of the U. S. Supreme Court.

Ever hear the phrase "Don't believe everything you hear?" Ben did do quite a bit for our fledgling nation, but was never a president.
