I am looking for a good book that is realistic fiction or nonfiction, but not historical. I really like books that take place in cities, like NYC, and I like a lot of genres. It doesn't have to take place in a city, but if you know of any good books that I might like, please recomend them. Also, I'm a teenager, so any book from adult-teen is ok. I've already read the catcher in the rye, too.

We have no view to work with. No view means nothing. Nothing has no details to explain it. Try to experience nothing and you will cease.

Dont you agree that today humanity is hardly seen?No tears, no mercy, no respect, no love, no honesty.......nothing that could prove that we are still humans! We are only and only bothered about one thing-how to earn tonnes of bucks and fame! Do we even bother to simply ask our old mother that how's she today&give her a hug?Do we respect our parents, friends&colleagues at their back?Do you shed tears at your relative's funeral? Are we honest enough to tell our parents that we failed even in the silliest test? And I doubt if honest people are still walking on earth!

Im writing a story. Its a 3rd person view.

Its in the present tense.

Is there any problems with using present tense. Is past better?

For example:

As the settling mist impedes the full moon, a beautiful lady charges through the forest on a white horse, grasping a lantern forward on a long cane.

Compared to:

The mist settled on the ground, the full moon impeded from sight. A beautiful lady charged through the forest on a white horse, a lantern grasped in her hand.

PS. The past tense may not make sense in the grammar sense.

What do people think? Thanks

I am trying to memorize a poetry deconstrction for tomorrow, and I wish to listen to a recording of it while I sleep.

Is it safe for me to do that?
Will it damage my ears?
What volume level is safe to listen too?
Is there a time limit I should listen to it for?
I will be using standard iPod earphones.

Many question I know, I just dont want to risk ear damage. Many thanks if you can help.

Hi everyone I have to find a way to learn how to do an upper class British accent (described to me "rather like Joanna Lumley's natural voice but younger like Keira Knightley's") for an audition. I don't have any money for a voice coach or even books - what do I do? Any tips? Any free online resources I should use? Just listening to the accent does not seem to change how I use my voice.

This year marks the Bicentennial anniversary of The Abolition Acts of 1807 (and 1833).
How much do you know about it, and who did it affect?
And how much do you know about Slavery that exists now?
I would like to hear your thoughts.

What kind of dancing are they doing in the 2005 Pride and Prejudice BEFORE Mr.Darcy enters? Two lines, men and women, lots of clapping, real happy (sorta irish) sound to it. Does it have a name?
