Dali's abstracts have a distinctly dream-like and deeply psychological impact. The melting clocks in "The Persistence of Vision" or the curtain of eyes in Hitchcock's "Spellbound" create an immediate sensory and visceral reaction. It is impossible to look at a Dali painting and not have a reaction on a very deep, primitive level. His art deliberately provokes our innermost thoughts, dreams and fears.
