The Secret is mostly based on a forgotten 1910 classic - The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles. The book itself is free! Just click here to go get it. http://www.free-sogr.wotsnext.com

As a teacher of The Secret for many years, as well as being a profession psychic, I now recommend The Secret DVD to everyone. http://www.psychic-junkie.com/does-the-secret-really-work.html

You should find 'What The Bleep Do We Know" interesting too http://www.whatthebleep.com/

I have been studying The Secret for the last 5 or so years, long before the book or DVD came out. I can recommend many sources that correspond to some of the content contained in both the book and DVD.
I haven't as yet read the book "The Secret", but I know it's contents. I have seen the DVD, and was by no sense of the word surprised by the content. I was surprised by the clarity and manner in which it was presented, as if the producers wanted to make the DVD easy to understand, even for viewers that fall into the minority catagories like people with low IQ, infancy and childhood, extreme old age, alziemers sufferers, hypo-amnesiacs, and post traumatic stress disorder sufferers, to name a few. Mostly I think it was meant for people who are so self absorbed in their own illusions, problems, fears or suffering that the possibility of The Secret being true is unconsionable, so the movie speaks directly to those kinds of people, namely the excessively sceptical, doubtful, distrusting, and faithless.
This has been done before! Go to the self help section of any bookstore, pick any book, flick to any page, and read any paragraph, and there's a very good chance you will see a reference to The Secret. The same can be said regarding the spirituality section that contains strictly non-organized-religion books, or the wealth creation section, or the inspirational section, or even the success story section. It includes both fiction and non-fiction, from courses, documentaries, and narratives to novels, poetry and song lyrics.

If you want specific titles and authors that I recommend I will offer you one suggestion from each of my favourite mediums of communication.

Books:
1) short parable: "The Prophet", by Kahlil Gibran
2) fictional novel series: (begins with) "The Celestine Prophecy" by James Redfield
3) Non-fictional biography series: (begins with) "Conversations With God", by Neale Walsch
4) Non-fictional course: "The Power Of Now", by Eckhart Tolle

DVD:
5) Scientific representation: "What The Bleep Do We Know", by Hopscotch Entertainment
6) Non-fictional biography "Conversations With God", by Hopscotch Entertainment
7) Historical record: "Gandhi", by Columbia Tri-Star Home Entertainment
8) Non-fictional example (secret working in real world): "Cool Runnings", by Disney DVD
9) Fictional example: "Babe", by Universal Pictures

As I've mentioned, there are way to many to list. I've got a hundred names running through my head right now: musicians, artists, politicians, journalists, lawyers, scientists, celebrities, royalty, sports coaches and players (lots), doctors, ... anyone that has ever had a continuous stream of positive and helpful and engaging and coincidental success in their life, is almost certainly practicing The Secret. It is an inescapable truth, and it is our natural groove. We feel safe and comfortable doing it, and it makes us happy even before the first reward comes. It is where we belong, where we came from, and where we will inevitably return; All good things.
