I am currently doing a paper on the British Empire, and whilst it seems in the modern climate that the term empire is such a dirty wold, is this a true reflection. Therefore I'd like to ask for peoples opinions on the subject. Do people think the British shaped India for the better, or should it be condemmed to the history books as a taboo subject.
Honest answers greatly appreciated

- What should be done to ensure that such questions are posted under the appropriate category, - Homework? We may unwittingly, weaken the students efforts and defeat the teaching and research profession by giving answers to assigned homework readings!!
Just a thought. . . .

Existentialism has rather gone out of fashion now, but I wonder if we adhere enough to its principles. In essence I interpret existentialism as being about the journey rather than the goal, but it's so hard to live that way. It seems to be totally contrary to the western mindset.

Is this something that appeals to you, or do you follow this ideal?

It must be very life-affirming if you can acheive it.

ps: I have heard of Christian Existentialism, which seems totally contradictory, don't you think??

I am not a big reader and really enjoyed this book. True story about an ATF agent who goes deep undercover in the Mongols motorcycle gang. If you haven't read it, I recommend it! Now for those of you who have read it, do you know of any other books which are similar that may keep my attention. Like I said I am not a big reader, and I'm not really interested in fiction.

I'm 13 and all my life people have told me I'm such a great artist but sometimes when I think about what I want to be when I grow up its not about passion its about profit, but I love doing art, I always come out on top in all my art workshops, I made a sculpture of a man praying to God in my free period, when I was 6 I sketched my grandmother while she was sleeping and it looked just like her,I painted a wounded angel while I was listening to "the rescue-american hi fi" but if I do become an artist what if no one likes what I make? I'll just be throwing my life away, my dad said he wants me to be a nurse so that I can work in London, because he told me they needed nurses there but blood makes me dizzy and nursing would be my second choice for my dad.
