Hitler was a frustrated painter who turned to politics and was more successful. He took a strong dislike to foreign influences and cultures and sought to purify these influences from his culture. He was not very successful with women but had a long term girlfriend that he eventually married and they remained together for the rest of their lives, he dying just a few minutes after her. In the beginning he was very well loved, but because of his stubbornness he lost many friends, and after his death many insisted that they never knew him and if they did they did not like him.

Austrian born Adolf Hitler did not embody his own criteria of a master race and it was most likely as a result of his own personal self-hatred (he was reportedly part Jewish) he fought in the trenches of WWI where he wrote his book 'Mein Kampf' of my struggle where he basically outlined everything he did in the years during which he was fuhrer of Germany.

He offered hope and stability to the people of Germany whose economy had grossly inflated and the people were starving and unemployed, He created work and security for the citizens of Germany.

The main cause for supporting Hitler during the time was his reaffirmation of the German culture and people in spite of the strong and devastating reparation payments owed to the rest of the world. Hitler brought pride back to the Germans - as least until he invaded Czechoslovakia in 1937 when the rest of the world - Britain esp. sat back and did not interfere. Hitler saw this as silent permission from the west to continue and it was only when he invaded Poland that the west acted.

With hindsight - had the west interfered when Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia - which was better defended and more easy to defend than the much larger Poland - Hitler could have been stopped far earlier.

A very good public speaker who fooled many Germans into believing his rhetoric. He gave hope to a country that was in a depression, that's why he rose to power.
